TV Review: Into The Dark: Pure (2019)

Pure concerns the adventures of Shay (Jahkara Smith), who along with her half-sister Jo (McKaley Miller) and father Kyle (Jim Klock), head out to one hell of a fucked-up retreat where women are dressed in white, lectured repeatedly on purity, and promise to their fathers that they won’t give up that cherry cobbler to any ol’ walkin’ hard on that comes their way until after marriage. It’s all rather Draconian and Patriarchal, and the extreme methods employed by the smarmy, yet charismatic Pastor Seth (Scott Porter) (including an outre box which he uses to punish dissenters) don’t help matters. Soon Shay, Jo and their new friends Kellyann (Annalisa Cochrane) and Lacey (Ciara Bravo) discover that all of Seth’s talk of Lilith and sins of the flesh made real are nothing compared to the supernatural evil that enters their lives after they perform a half-assed arcane ritual on the grounds of the revoltin’ retreat! With it’s emphasis on father’s controlling the

“Heathers” Axed By The Paramount Network

Back in January, we shared the trailer for Paramount’s series adaptation of Michael Lehmann’s 1988 cult classic Heathers. Today, EW is reporting that series has been axed by the Paramount Network, formally known as Spike TV, following its premiere delay. The reason, Paramount felt that the show was insensitive following the Parkland, Florida mass shooting. This is a high school show, we’re blowing up the school, there are guns in the school, it’s a satire and there are moments of teachers having guns. It’s hitting on so many hot topics. This company can’t be speaking out of both sides of its mouth, saying the youth movement is important for us and we’ve done all these wonderful things to support that and at the same time, we’re putting on a show that we’re not comfortable with,” said Keith Cox, Paramount Network president of development and production. ““It’s a satire but it’s very bold,” Cox stated. “We knew that and then this

The ‘Heathers’ Series Red Band Trailer Is Here

There are A LOT of remakes and reboots coming out soon. One of those is the TV “reimagining” of Michael Lehmann’s 1988 genre film Heathers. The Red Band trailer is out and it is probably going to piss off any fans of the movie. New isn’t always better. The series follows a group of outcast students who plot to kill the cool kids. The characters in the series are a bit different from the ones from the film, for example, one of the female characters has been swapped out for a gay male character and the lead mean girl is “body positive”. It comes across like they are trying a little too hard to be relevant, you know what I mean? Selma Blair, Adwin Brown, Romel De Silva, Annalisa Cochrane, Jeremy Culhane, Cameron Gellman, Jess Leigh, Mandy June Turpin, Paige Weldon, Christina Burdette, Birgundi Baker, Grace Victoria Sawyer, and James Scully co-star. Shannen Doherty who played the role of Heather
