Channing Tatum Starring In New Universal Monster Movie

The directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street) have teamed up once again for a new untitled Universal Monster movie. The movie is working hard to keep details as quiet as possible, but the film is being “described as a modern-day, tongue-in-cheek thriller inspired by Universal’s classic monster legacy,” by Deadline. Channing Tatum is set to star in the film, who also worked with the directors on the 2012 comedy reboot of 21 Jump Street. Wes Tooke wrote the script based on an idea by Reid Carolin. Lord and Miller will be producing under their Lord Miller production banner. Tatum, Carolin, and Peter Kiernan, who will produce under their Free Association banner. Channing Tatum And Roy Lee Adapting Comic “The Maxx”

Back in the 90s, Image Comics’ The Maxx was adapted for an animated series by MTV, now it’s getting a new adaptation. According to THR, Channing Tatum and Roy Lee (IT) are teaming up to produce the new version of Sam Keith’s comics. “The original series followed the adventures of The Maxx, who appears in both the real world and an alternate reality, the Outback. In the real world, he is a homeless man living in a box but in the Outback, he is a powerful masked being who is the protector of the Jungle Queen. In the real world, the latter is a social worker named Julie Winters who frequently works to help the homeless man, unaware that the alternate reality exists and is exerting a dangerous influence on her life.” It’s unknown at the moment if the adaptation will be a series or a feature film. At this time, there are no directors or writers attached. But we’ll

‘Van Helsing’ Reboot Reportedly Has Chosen It’s Star

The “Dark Universe” didn’t exactly get off to a good start with The Mummy, but Universal won’t let the franchise die, with everything from The Wolfman to The Hunchback of Notre Dame getting adaptations. I’d be more shocked than Frankenstein’s Monster if even half these films actually get made, but who knows, I’m no fortune teller. Out of the five or six films slated to come out, the only one I really felt any amount of excitement for was Van Helsing. The whole concept of an international monster hunter is a neat idea, and the 2004 adaptation didn’t really do the concept justice. Well that excitement’s sunk into the Black Lagoon with the announcement that Magic Mike pretty boy Channing Tatum is reportedly up for the role. Best known for being the worst part of The Hateful Eight and being the most meh part of 21 Jump Street, Tatum’s casting shows both that Universal hasn’t learned dick from The Mummy

Sony Cancels Ghostbusters Movie Starring Channing Tatum And Chris Pratt

Last year we reported that there were not one, but two Ghostbusters films in the works. The first film, Paul Feig’s the female-driven female-driven Ghostbusters and the second, a male-driven Ghostbusters starring Chris Pratt and Channing Tatum. Joe and Anthony Russo, the duo behind Captain America: Civil War were attached to the second film, which is now put on hold indefinitely. There was a plan in place to construct a shared universe between the two new films, with a future crossover, but that will not be happening any time soon. With the backlash from fans over Ghostbusters (2016), putting off another movie is probably for the best. Let’s be honest, no matter who stars in a new Ghostbusters movies, it will never top the originals and fans know it. Sony may be realizing that it’s time to get off the remake train, at least I hope they are.
