Blu-ray Review: Critters Attack! (2019)

Those flesh eating maniacs from beyond the stars, the Crites, once again touch down in a rural town and if there’s one thing you can bet on it’s that their hunger hasn’t abated since the last time they were here. Soon, this will make life difficult for young Drea (Tashiana Washington); a small town girl with big dreams who has taken on a babysitting job for a college professor who’s school she is hoping to schmooze her way into after being denied a scholarship. You see, Drea takes her charges on a lil’ nature walk (with her own alien-obsessed little brother tagging along), but unfortunately for her, those horrendous hairballs are callin’ the wicked woods home these days so these folks are going to be in for one hell of a fight if they want to survive this night of a million teeth and claws! I’ve never made it a secret that Critters was my all-time fav of the small,

In the series, pursued by intergalactic bounty hunters, the Critters return to Earth on a secret mission and encounter lovelorn high-schooler Christopher (Joey Morgan, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse), his crush Dana (Stephi Chin-Salvo, iZOMBIE), his best friend Charlie (Bzhaun Rhoden, Van Helsing), and his mom Veronica (Kirsten Robek, The Edge of Seventeen), whose past will come back to bite them—literally. Critters Is Getting A Reboot

The bad news, Verizon’s Critters series has been given the ax, but there is good news (sort of). We are getting a Critters reboot which is set to begin filming in South Africa this January. Syfy is behind the reboot that is being produced by Adam Friedlander. But that’s all we know. So far, Syfy is keeping details hush, hush. The original 1986 film, directed by Stephen Herek, starred Dee Wallace, M. Emmet Walsh, Billy Green Bush, and Scott Grimes. In the movie, a group of small, furry aliens makes lunch out of the locals in a small town. Critters went on to spawn three sequels, with the last being released in 1992.

Blu-ray Review: The Critters Collection (1986 – 1992)

Man oh man I love me some Critters…well the first film anyway. To be truthful, I loved the sequel as well, but only ended up seeing it once or twice, and the third and fourth pics? Well, I know I saw them at some point, but I remember fuck-all about them…but that first film; my lord I must have watched that fifty times in the late eighties alone! So, since it’s obviously waaaay past time for a re-visit to the frightful franchise, and since those delicious devils at Scream Factory have just put out a new Blu-ray collection featuring all for films, we begin my latest revoltin’ review for these hallowed haunted halls! To the surprise of no one we begin with: Critters (1986): A group of intergalactic convicts, who resemble the offspring of Fizzgig mating with a porcupine (and we both know that lil’ bastard totally would too), escape a prison asteroid and land near the farm of young

The ‘Critters’ Are Back For New Show

It’s been 30 years since the earth was invaded by Critters, with the last film of the franchise hatching in 1992. There have been a lot of fans over the years begging for a new sequel. Jordan Rubin, Jon Kaplan, and Al Kaplin, the team who brought you Zombeavers, is behind the series. Rubin will direct and Kaplin will pen the series and executive produce. Robert Harvey and Barry Opper from the original film will produce. In the series, “the critters return to Earth in search of one of their kin, who was left behind years ago during an earlier mission. New Poster Unveils Tiny Terrors From ‘Ghastlies’

From Gremlins and Ghoulies, to Critters, Troll, and The Gate, horror movies focused on gangs of mini-monsters were commonplace throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. Unfortunately, little to no output has occurred in the subgenre in the decades since. Thankfully, Camp Motion Pictures plans on answering our prayers for pint-sized creeps with Ghastlies, out on DVD, Blu-Ray, and VOD this November. In the meantime, check out this new poster, released today on the official Ghastlies Facebook page. Directed by Brett Kelly (Kingdom of the Vampire, Attack of the Giant Leeches [2008]), and written by Chris Bavota (Minutes Past Midnight), Ghastlies is the tale of three ghoulish creatures accidentally unleashed from an underground bunker by four sorority girls while on a weekend getaway in the country. With the pure-eighties tagline “Pure evil. Bite Sized.”, the film (starring Kim Valentine) is set to be a lot of throwback fun.
