“Chucky” Is Coming To SyFy For New TV Series!

Syfy announced today at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that it has given the straight-to-series order for a new series based on Chucky from the Child’s Play franchise. Titled “Chucky,” the series centers on an idyllic American town thrown into chaos after a vintage Chucky doll turns up in a back yard. A series of horrific murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who became a notorious monster. The series hails from franchise creator Don Mancini who will also serve as a director, showrunner, and executive producer. Here’s What We Know About The “Chucky” Series

With Orion gearing up to release their Child’s Play reboot next month, you may be wondering where franchise creator Don Mancini‘s “Chucky” series stands. Last we reported Nick Antosca who created “Channel Zero” had come on board to produce. During a recent talk with Slash Film, Antosca teased that the series will more like the early films of the franchise and less like the Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky. The series is going to be closer to the tone of the first two movies in the series,” Antosca stated. “It’s going to go back to a sort of classic scare.” He continued. ““It’s consistent with that mythology, but it’s a whole new story,” Antosca explained. “So you could come into it without knowing anything about the previous stuff and get into it. “Chucky” TV Series Coming To SyFy

A while back we reported that franchise creator Don Mancini had teased that Chucky is coming to TV. EW is now confirming that not only is a series in the works, but it’s also found a home on the Syfy channel. Mancini will be serving as both the writer and executive producer for the series. Longtime franchise producer David Kirschner is on board along with Nick Antosca who worked with Mancini on both “Hannibal” and Syfy’s “Channel Zero”. Don Mancini Gives Details About Upcoming Child’s Play Series

Back in June, Child’s Play creator Don Mancini, who also wrote and directed most of the franchise, teased the upcoming TV series based on the film featuring Chucky. Mancini recently appeared on the podcast Post Mortem With Mick Garris and revealed a few of the series’ details. Chucky Looks Like A Brand New Doll In The First Look At The ‘Child’s Play’ Remake

The first look at the Child’s Play remake is here and one thing is for sure, ole Chucky looks like a brand new doll. Filming has already begun on the remake from MGM and Orion, directed by Lars Klevberg. It will feature a new take on the killer doll that we all know and love. How different will the remake be? Not only does Chucky look different, but he will also sound different since Brad Dourif, who has long voiced the possessed doll, won’t be voicing the new version. Chucky‘s getting an upgrade. It’s been said that there will be robotic aspects to the doll which may be hacked and made to kill. Here’s another thing, creator, writer, and director Don Mancini has ZERO to do this flick. ‘Child’s Play’ Reboot To Be Extremely Different From What We Know And Love

For a moment we were kind of excited about the upcoming Child’s Play reboot from MGM, that is until we learned just how different the movie will be from what we know and love about the franchise, Brad Dourif, the longtime voice of Chucky, won’t be involved. That’s right, Chucky will be getting a new voice. The changes don’t stop there, allegedly, Chucky will no longer be a serial killer possessed doll, instead, he will be an out of control A.I., according to Bloody Disgusting. Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) has been tapped to direct the reboot based on the script penned by Kung Fury writer Burton Smith. While horror fans are pretty open-minded, I don’t think they’re that open minded. I’ll be honest, the movie might be more successful if they were to rename the bot and break ties to the franchise altogether. Luckily, we will see Universal continue the original franchise. MGM Rebooting Child’s Play

Chucky will soon be everywhere your turn (that’s not a bad thing). We recently reported that Child’s Play is being adapted for a series. Now, we’ve discovered that the original film is getting a reboot from MGM. Collider is reporting that their sources are saying that Lars Klevberg has been tapped to direct the reboot based on the script penned by Kung Fury writer Burton Smith. The new version of the classic is said to be a “contemporary reboot involving a group of kids…and a technologically advanced doll that enters their world.” MGM has been developing the film under a secret code name in hopes to surprise fans, similar to the way Adam Wingard did with The Woods, which was actually Blair Witch. MGM worked out a deal with Universal Pictures, due to the fact that they still own the rights to the franchise which has flourished under the supervision of the franchise creator Don Mancini. The Child’s Play franchise has spanned thirty years and seven films, now it’s headed to TV. Back in February, we reported that the franchise is getting its own series. Who doesn’t love that psychotic, red-headed, possessed doll, Chucky? Well, the word is we are about to get a lot more of him. As the 30th anniversary of Child’s Play approaches, Comingsoon.com is reporting that franchise creator Don Mancini is bringing Chucky to the small screen for a new series. Mancini said during an interview that he and producer David Kirschner are currently developing a Child’s Play television series that will pick up where the last film left off. He also promised that the series will be “dark and disturbing”. Brad Dourif, the long-time voice of our favorite Good Guy doll turned bad boy, is on board. Don Mancini Teases That We Will See Chucky, Tiffany And Glen/Glenda Again

There was one thing missing from Cult of Chucky which was released last month. That’s Chucky and Tiffany’s spawn, Glen/Glenda who we met in Seed of Chucky. It left fans wondering where the little bugger was. Child’s Play creator, writer, and frequent director, Don Mancini was recently interviewed by Mezco. They asked Mancini about Billy Boyd, the voice of Glen/Glenda. The director had a simple but vague response: All I can say is…STAY TUNED!” When they asked about the future of the franchise he stated, “Expect the unexpected. Though not as unexpected as say, Chucky not being in the movie.
