Eli Roth Has A ‘Death Wish’ – A Remake Of The 1974 Film Is In The Works

Eli Roth will be departing from his usual gory genre films to “studio fare”. Roth is set to remake 1974’s Death Wish. Bruce Willis will be starring in the role originally played by Charles Bronson. In Death Wish (the original), a New York City architect becomes a one-man vigilante squad after his wife is murdered by street punks. The man goes out and randomly kills would-be muggers on the street after dark. The remake is based on the new script penned by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado were originally signed to direct the remake, but stepped away due to differences last month. Roth is known in the horror genre for his love of gore. Roth’s 2013 survival-cannibal film The Green Inferno was released in 2015 after a long delay and was well received by critics. It was followed by Knock, Knock and then by his 2014 film Clown which has just had its delayed release.

Eli Roth’s Sequel To The Green Inferno Still Alive

After a long delay, Eli Roth’s highly anticipated cannibal film The Green Inferno saw its DVD release in the U.S. back in January of this year. News about the sequel has been nonexistent since, until now. It seems the film is still alive and in the works. The Wrap uncovered a little tidbit while writing a story about Roth producing a short film for his digital genre brand Crypt TV. Near the end of the write-up The Wrap stated “The writer-director-producer is currently in development on a sequel to his slacktivism slasher film The Green Inferno.” That gives us that we will indeed see a sequel at some point. The Road to Death House Part 1

Let’s build on Eli Roth’s prescient observation. I have written quite a bit on cynicism in filmmaking. If you are just coming to my series, stop here. Go back and read my other pieces. Then you can read this in context. However, he is talking about a SMALL percentage of fans. This is not a general description at all. We prefer to focus on the majority of horror fans that do the opposite of Roth’s comments. I have provided an open door, a very wide door, into the production of a movie since “Death House” started filming. “Death House” is my fifth feature film: the fifth I have written and the third I have directed. It’s been a long road, and frankly, I am doing what no one else is doing in Hollywood, making consistent, high quality product on very low budgets. I’ve made one film a year since doing this profession full time. “Death House” was brought to me
