Debunking “100 Years Pandemic” Meme

Now that social distancing, lockdowns, and shelter in place events are going on around the globe, many people have time on their hands… so much so that they’re now posting clips from bogus articles that first appeared in January of this year and shared on many not so relevant/scholarly/trustworthy news sites, today Horror fuel is challenging these claims! According to the article and the meme that was birthed from it, every 100 years there’s a major pandemic and that we should be worried. The article and meme mention the 1720 Plague, the 1820 Cholera Outbreak, the 1920 Spanish Flu, and tops it off with the misnamed 2020 “Chinese” Flu. Let’s start off with the first claim, the 1720 Plague which is convenient that it appears that’s when recorded human history must have begun according to the ones who began these claims as no other years are mentioned before this one. Historically there was indeed a plague in 1720, it was

Unseen ‘Dying Light 2’ Gameplay Footage Coming Soon!

Techland has just announced that previously unseen gameplay footage of their upcoming first-person zombie game Dying Light 2 will be streamed! Originally the first gameplay footage was only seen privately at E3 this year but will be shown publically at Gamescom and streamed on Techland’s Twitch, Facebook, and Steam pages. Dying Light 2 takes place 15 years after the events of the first game where the zombie virus went from being an isolated incident to a global pandemic. Players take on the role of an infected survivor named Aiden Caldwell as he must journey through the modern Dark Age world in a city full of death. Just like the first game, Dying Light 2 is first-person and parkour helps you traverse the unforgiving landscape where surviving humans are either your ally or enemy but in the shadows wait the infected who have evolved to be completely sensitive to UV light and come out at night. The main mechanic of the

Instagram Believes Horror Is Bad

Instagram, an affiliate site connected to Facebook is famous for attention seeking wannabe models, armature foodies, showcasing artists, celebrities sharing behind the scenes of their personal lives, and constantly being down. You can search for the type of images you want to see by their hashtags (#) but one hashtag is flagged… Horror. That’s right, #Horror is flagged on Instagram. If you search for horror, a page will pop up and asking if “They” (Instagram) can help as horror, they claim, often encourages harmful behavior, don’t believe me? Well, calling on their bluff I looked up known dangerous behavior. #drinkinggames is safe even though these can attribute to alcohol poisoning, same with #beerpong, #drinking, and #drunk. This may not sound that bad, but some of the posts I’ve looked at star those who look to be a little too young to be drinking. According to the CDC’s fact sheet on underage drinking; in 2017 14% of High School students binge

Momo Hoax, Momo Problems.

Back in August, fears grew among parents in South America as police were looking for an internet user going by the name, Momo. The nefarious user is said to text children who look for it online and gives them a challenge in which they either hurt themselves or others. It turned out the suicide of a 12-year-old girl in Argentina (mentioned in a previous article) was NOT a result of a “Suicide challenge” as originally suspected and was confirmed by Argentinean authorities. Recently there’s been a surge in Momo memes on social media (especially Facebook) that have some scratching their heads and others worried, thanks in part to the Police Service of Northern Ireland posting a warning on Facebook about Momo and it’s “challenge” which was brought to their attention thus causing some panic in the UK. Claims that Momo appears in children’s videos on Youtube, or contacted youths playing Fortnite have not been confirmed as internet sleuths (professional and

Kickstarter Coming For A Social Network Aimed At Gamers

Social media users utilize websites to stay in touch with friends, keep up with current trends, voice opinions, share laughs, and meet new people. Gamers are no different on these sites but they have to swim through a lot of other people’s nonsense to see what they’re more interested in. Well, if you’re a gamer who would rather talk gaming, get the latest news and reviews, guess what, there may be a new site just for you and others like you! A Kickstarter campaign will begin on November 30th for GameCritter, a new kind of social media site dedicated to all things gaming. The site will combine some of the best concepts from social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Metacritic, Reddit and Quora in an all-in-one site. For gamers, the site will allow users to post statuses, community-driven reviews for games, and join in discussions by asking/answering questions. ‘My Name Is Death’, The Perfect Dark Humor Webtoon

Again on Line Webtoon, I’ve discovered a little gem, a comic by Spanish artist Rumbo (Josué Rumbo) titled My name is Death. The comic follows the grim reaper himself and the shenanigans that arise as he works. Death himself looks a bit different from what we think of him, he’s a little guy with a wicked sense of humor that resembles Deadpool (who makes an appearance in one of the comics.) The comics are a perfect mix of silliness, pop culture references, and at times social commentary. When the series first started the drawings looked different but as the series progresses the drawings become cleaner (thanks to donations from readers) Overall, My name is Death is a funny little comic strip that updates weekly if you like dark humor, sarcasm, and even a little cuteness; this comic is for you! You can read it HERE, you can also check out My name is Death on Facebook and Twitter and you
