Rock Pocket Games and Funcom have allowed me to play their Lovecraft inspired first-person horror game, Moons of Madness for the Xbox One. Moons of Madness has already been released on PC and received high praise by many before finally being released onto PlayStation 4 and Xbox One today. In Moons of Madness, you take on the role of Shane Newhart, a lowly engineer with a level 1 security clearance working on a station on Mars. After waking from a nightmare and having to get back to work maintaining the facility, things start to go weird…and very wrong and somehow Shane’s past is involved. Onto the game itself: Moons of Madness is heavily narrative-driven and you’re along for the ride, very much like the “Layers of Fear” games, Narcosis, and Observer, where players have to solve puzzles to continue the narration and may have to run away from danger rather than fighting it. Red Barrels have announced that the long-awaited third installment in their popular first-person horror game franchise “Outlast” is in the works as we speak! The game has two main games and one DLC titled Whistleblower that follows the events of the first game. In the game’s series, players have to run and hide from psychotic individuals and behemoths while at the same time dealing with their inner demons. What sets “Outlast” apart from other horror games is the in your face terror players experience as the games take place in very dark locations and the only way you can see anything is through the viewfinder of a night vision camcorder. Though the first two games and Whistleblower are related, the third installment titled The Outlast Trials is its own story but takes place in the same universe as the other games. PC players will be happy to know that this Halloween that indie game developer Straight Back Games, is hosting an open Beta of their upcoming co-op game The Watchers. The beta starts Halloween and ends on November 3rd. If players are interested in signing up for the Beta, they can join The Watchers Discord and sign up in the #beta-signup channel. Each sign up will get two keys so they can play with a friend online. The Watchers follows twins Luisa and Frederico as they search for clues relating to the disappearance of their mother who was a cult leader. Their search will take them to the now-abandoned headquarters of the cult known as The Watchers of Azazel who’ve vanished after the twins’ mother became the cult’s new leader. The game is co-op and requires teamwork in order to solve puzzles, find objects, and avoid enemies that lurk around. Though there’s no jump scares in the game, it will have

Nothing puts you into the autumn mood than a stroll through the woods…creepy woods that is! Bloober Team were really awesome and shared with me their latest psychological horror masterpiece, Blair Witch, a game based on the 1999 cult classic found-footage film The Blair Witch Project that had such an intense marketing campaign that people really thought the film and the legend behind it were real. Without further ado, let’s take a spoiler-free look at Blair Witch It’s 1996 Players take on the role of Ellis, a former cop with a troubled past that seems to be on a mission of redemption to those around him as he voluntarily partakes in a search of a missing 9-year old boy who has gone missing in the Black Hills forest. This is not the first time Ellis was searching for anyone in these woods as a couple of years prior he helped look for three missing college students in the same woods.

Previously, I’ve talked about a new first-person horror game titled Moons of Madness, a space exploration game with a Lovecraft twist. A lot has changed since I last shared about the game, mainly the release date changed, but for the better. Rocket Pocket Games has teamed up with Funcom and have set the game’s release around the Halloween season this year! Along with a new release date comes new information about the game. As previously mentioned you play as Shane Newhart, a technician working at a secret research base stationed on Mars. Your job is just tech work and making sure the lights don’t go out and having low-security clearance prevents you from knowing the real reason for the station’s presence on Mars. Soon Shane will begin to see and hear things that aren’t there…or are they? He’ll discover that he’s alone at the station…or is he? Cosmic horrors the likes of which Lovecraft wrote about will make its presence

Indie game developer Krillbite Studios’ hit game, Among the Sleep, will be making its way to Nintendo Switch this year following its massive success since its release. This enhanced edition will be available both physically and digitally. In this first-person game, players take on the role of a two-year-old in search of their mother who vanished with your teddy bear who’s not alive, aiding you in your search as your house becomes dark and twisted. You and your trusty stuffed sidekick have to solve puzzles as you creep through your now creepy house as well as a dark forest as you try to find clues to the whereabouts of your Mom. The enhanced edition has better graphics as well as improved dialogue performances by actors. Among the Sleep is already out now on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
