Suspension of Disbelief? Sit through this annoying video up until the 5:00 mark. The fan boy “host” in the above video talks in attention deficit tweets. The video uses jump cut “hip” editing to spill out unabashed respect and love for the CGI technique that brought Peter Cushing back from the grave in “Rogue One.” He spends the first five minutes elaborating on the incredible work and effort it took create this digital feat. The “host” proclaims, “I think they pulled it off.” Then, being a true “fan” he takes a swipe at all of the work done by Industrial Light and Magic, effects artist, John Knoll and director Gareth Edwards. “Now Tarkin didn’t look a hundred percent authentic,” the “host” whines, “especially the movement of his mouth, but…he looked better than any other time this has been used.” What movies has this guy made? What has happened to film audiences? In the never ending quest for “realism” in special

The new ‘Friday the 13th’ film has run into several issues and delays, leaving fans wondering if we would even get to see Jason resurrected for another killing spree. It seems that the film is finally moving forward. The location has been found and the date set to begin filming. In an interview with Collider, Brad Fuller, who is producing the film for Platinum Dunes, gave an update on the new ‘Friday the 13th’ film. In terms of fun, making [the 2009 film] was so fun. The cast was great, we were in a great setting, everyone got along. We had a lot of fun making that movie and we always wanted to go back to Crystal Lake and make another one. There were so many obstacles to surmount to get to where we are today. I’m not going to bore you with all of them but for a long time, there was a rights issue between Paramount and Warner

Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes’ next film in the Friday the 13th franchise is moving forward towards its 2017 release. Aaron Guzikowski turned in the script for the film last month, according to Bloody Disgusting. The film has a new director, Breck Eisner, who is replacing David Bruckner. Eisner was the director behind The Crazies, and The Last Witch Hunter. He will also be directing Universal’s upcoming remake of The Creature From the Black Lagoon and New Line’s Escape From New York. Back in June producer Brad Fuller, stated that the film is an “origin-ish” story that delves into Jason’s backstory and is a film we haven’t seen before. Aaron’s story has great characters…You kind of have to understand Jason Voorhees, so we go back and we kind of started over and work our way forward,” Fuller told The Reel World. “[It’s] origin-ish, but it’s an origin that no one has seen before. Obviously Pamela’s there, but it’s a little bit

During a recent podcast John Carpenter expressed his hatred for the Friday the 13th franchise. In his discussion with Bret Easton Ellis about his involvement as executive producer for the new upcoming Halloween film currently in development, Carpenter ripped the 1980 horror classic a new one with a string of insults, basically calling them copycats and reviving the long running feud between the two franchises. “I think the reason that all these slasher movies came in the 80’s was a lot of folks said, ‘Look at that Halloween movie. It was made for peanuts, and look at the money it has made. We can make money like that. That’s what the teenagers want to see’. THR quoted Carpenter as saying. “So they just started making them, cranking them out. Most of them were awful.” I reached out to Friday the 13th‘s creator Victor Miller to find out what he thought about Carpenter’s statement. Miller’s response was not only civil, but

Word came back in 2014 that a Friday the 13th series would be coming to the CW Network that would explore a detective’s search for his brother who had gone missing on Crystal Lake. We posted an update back in August of 2015 that director David Bruckner had stepped away from the project and that writer Aaron Guzikowski has signed on. Since then information has been scarce. Today, new information has come via Pizowell.com. A source close to the show has revealed that the CW has officially killed their plans to make the series. One of the many reasons the series never came to be is that many executives didn’t like the concept behind the show.

A Few Words From Our Ms. Palmer “What a piece of shit! No one’s gonna see this crap!” — Actress Betsy Palmer aka Pamela Vorhees The late, esteemed critic, Roger Ebert, coined the phrase “Dead Teenager Movie” and I have stated several times that Jaws 2 arguably gets technical credit as the first one. While teenagers in peril was a long standing theme and used over and over again, it’s the sequel to Spielberg’s game changing shark movie that lined them up one after another for the monster to pick off. Jaws 2 gave the designer sheen to killing off teens. It wasn’t a grainy “B Movie” that played part of a double bill at the drive in. This was wide screen Panavision and a 50 million budget. While there was no nudity, the underlying “have sex and die” motif was there with a killer in the form a pissed off female Great White Shark. The original 1978 Halloween fine

The new Friday the 13th reoot is experiencing problems, once again. This time, they have gained Aaron Guzikowski as a new writer, but now the film has lost yet another director. David Bruckner is no longer attached and a new director has not been announced. There was a rumor the the reboot would be found footage. However Brad Fuller (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), a producer for the 2016 film, has stated that it will in fact, NOT be found footage. I’m very happy to hear this, found footage may be considered a good and cheap, alternative way to film, but in my opinion it’s over used and often obnoxious. Fuller made this statement back in March: “I could just say that for a long time we were stalled…” Fuller continues (during an interview with Shock Till You Drop) “…the film was going to be a found footage movie and that was a road that we went down and tried to

Series creator, Sean S. Cunningham recently discussed his new project, the Friday the 13th series coming to the CW, with FANGORIA. A lot of horror fans have doubts about the new show and its choice of networks, but Cunningham seems confident that the series will do great. “We went with CW because they are probaly the most successful genre distributor in the world because not only strong in the U.S., but around the world with their other titles, in particular Arrow and The Flash. They know that market and they know their audience. They’re very smart and very psyched about doing the project.” The series will focus on a detective and his quest to find his missing brother, some how tied to Jason Voorhees. Jason, long thought dead, is back and the body count is rising. The once secluded camp, is now part of a thriving town and the town’s residents aren’t sure if Jason has really returned or if
