Following it’s hugely successful beta, Friday the 13th: The Game now has a set release date, with camp counselors being sent to the slaughter on May 26, 2017. The game will be launched for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Steam, costing $40 at retail. With the ability to play as a counselor on the run, or Ol’ Hockey Mask himself, F13: The Game is looking to be a successful adaptation of the famous series. There’s still a lot of the game that hasn’t been shown (multiple maps, Jason abilities, and the ever elusive single player campaign for starters), which just makes the wait hurt that much more. Probably not as much as a machete to the head, granted. But still painful.

When the news broke that a new Friday the 13th film was in the works, fans were thrilled. But it has had problems since day one. Yesterday, the sequel was pulled from the release just as production was set to begin. At first we thought maybe it would be delayed due to the release date, set for October, and that it wouldn’t be able to be completed by then. Unfortunately, we’ve heard that it has not been delayed, but canceled all together. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Platinum Dunes and the sequel’s director Breck Eisner were informed yesterday that the movie was canceled. This isn’t the first Friday the 13th to be canceled recently. Last year Paramount killed their Friday the 13th movie after their film Rings tanked at the Box Office. They were left with cold feet and were concerned that their Friday the 13th would suffer the same fate. Someday, hopefully sooner rather than later, we will

Eighty Office Drones with bombs in their heads, a kitchen filled with knives, a locker full of firearms, and a mysterious voice in the ceiling commentating on a game of death; what else could a horror fan ask for? With The Belko Experiment, writer and producer James Gunn harkens back to his Troma roots, delivering an over the top ode to carnage, nihilism, and primal savage. While the film’s message might muddled under an ocean of gore, and whatever insight it had to offer blown away like a Belko Employee’s cranium, Experiment offers what’s likely to be the most bloody fun time you’ve had in awhile; that is if your soul (and your stomach) can handle it. Belko’s premise is simple, with similarities that can be traced all the way back to Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery. 80 employees of the Belko Corporation, each with a bomb stuck in their head, are locked in their building and given two options; kill

At this weekend’s PEX East video game festival in Boston, the new trailer was unveiled. The brand new trailer features new locations, new counselors, and a series of incredible kills. NBC/Universal’s new series ‘Midnight, Texas’ will soon be premiering. The supernatural series has now added ‘Friday the 13th’ actor Derek Mears to its already impressive cast. Mears is known for his roles in ‘Friday the 13th (2009), Predators (2010), Hatchet, as Stavarin in ‘Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead’, and many more. While his character is still unlisted on IMDb, I have it from a reliable source (Mears told me himself) that he will appear in at least one episode. ‘Midnight, Texas’, an adaption of Charlaine Harris’ novels, is closely tied to ‘True Blood’. There is even a good chance that the two series will have a cross-over at some point. Vampires, witches, werewolves and the supernatural will be central to the story of the new show. While it looks normal from the outside, Midnight is a safe haven for all supernatural beings, as well as humans, fortune tellers and other outcasts. In the town your neighbor could be a

We are sorry to have to inform you all of this, but ‘Friday the 13th‘, one of the most highly anticipated films of the year, has been pulled from Paramount’s release schedule. The film, which we reported last week had hired Legacy Effects, was set to begin filming this Spring under the direction of Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners). Casting had already begun for the roles of young Jason and his father Elias Voorhees, but there is no word if that will continue or be put on hold as well. Deadline is reporting that ‘Mother’, from director Darren Aronosfky, will take the place of ‘Friday the 13th’ on the schedule. The site is saying that the reason for the halt in production is that Paramount is not happy with ‘Rings” Box Office results on its opening weekend. ‘Mother’, a drama starring Jennifer Lawrence, centers on a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.

Breck Eisner is in the directors chair for reboot of ‘Friday the 13th’, which we reported earlier this week was finally entering production. Casting is now underway and filming set to begin in March in Conyers, Georgia. The film, penned by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners), will take us on a journey deeper into Jason’s history. Not only will we learn more about our favorite machete toting killer, we will see Pamela Voorhees and for the first time on film we will meet Jason’s father Elias Voorhees. F13Franchise.com is now reporting that Platinum Dunes has hired Legacy Effects to bring Jason back to life by creating the special effects, props, and Jason’s iconic mask. Word is, the new mask will resemble the mask from ‘Friday the 13th: Part 3’. In that film Richard Brooker wore the Jason mask which had red chevron markings, scratches, and had a yellow hue. Legacy Effects has worked on films such as ‘Iron Man 2’, ‘World War

After a long period of silence, we finally have an update on the highly-anticipated ‘Friday the 13th’ sequel. The sequel is now casting and is set to begin filming this spring in Conyers, Georgia under the direction of Breck Eisner (The Crazies), from the script penned by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners), FridayThe13thFranchise.com is reporting. “The reason that the production in Conyers is interesting is that Platinum Dunes is scheduled for shooting in that town starting in March and lasting through to May. That leads us to believe a good majority of filming should take place in that area. Another interesting bit of information about Conyers is that it is just under 12 miles away from Covington, Georgia, where Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part VI was filmed!” The film has been described as an origin story by Brad Fuller and Andrew Form who are producing for Platinum Dunes. We will keep you updated as the film develops.

Today, as you all already know my Little Monsters, is Friday the 13th. It’s a day when some people want to stay home and pull the covers over their heads in order to avoid bad luck or a cruel twist of fate. Some take it as a personal challenge for fate to just go ahead and try something if it dares to do so…grrrr. But moreover, it tends to bring to mind the tragic story of a grieving mother of a dead son AND the crazy, kill rampage she perpetrates on a group of camp counselors who had NOTHING to do with it. Now while Jason was not the focal point of the original Sean Cunningham classic, he definitely was the driving force behind the subsequent chapters in the franchise. And despite only having very brief screen time in the 1980 film, Ari Lehman’s curtain call as Jason in the final minutes has always registered with me as hands down
