To: New Line Cinema From: B Harrison Smith Re: Friday the 13th: Tommy Jarvis vs. Jason Vorhees Make Tommy vs. Jason. You’re sitting a goldmine. I am told the rights to Friday the 13th are a mess. Paramount owns some, you own some. Some are parceled out to TV while the films retain others and the characters. I’ve heard one tale that both studios share custody over the franchise like a divorced couple. I have no idea if this is true. What I do know is that the ownership of rights has become so convoluted that no one seems to have a definitive answer. The legal octopus is strangling you from making another killing and I’m willing to bet it could be straightened out. At the risk of shooting myself in the foot and giving away my thoughts for someone to steal, here is a proposal to get Jason out of development hell. I attended two meetings in Los Angeles

Freddy Kruger and Jason Vorhees are the newest addition of the Pop Taters line belonging to PPWToys. These Taters are just two of the many choices in the line that includes famous characters and people. I have to say the two are more adorable than scary, but would make a great addition to any horror collection. The Taters will be available in October for the price of $17.99 each.

Little information has been released about the new ‘Friday the 13th’ movie that is being directed by David Bruckner (V/H/S) and written by Nick Antosca, who served as a writer for the ‘Hannibal Lecter’ series. Antosca has stated that the new movie will not be a sequel to the 2009 movie and will have different characters and be set in a different time period. It has been rumored that the film will take place in 1980’s, but that has not been confirmed. It had been rumored that it would be a found footage film. Brad Fuller (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), a producer for the 2016 film, has stated that it will in fact, NOT be found footage. I’m very happy to hear this, found footage may be considered a good, and cheap, alternative way to film, but in my opinion it’s over used and obnoxious. “I could just say that for a long time we were stalled…” Fuller continues (during

Ultimately, I think Michael, Drew and I felt that we couldn’t figure out, so we kind of jettisoned that whole notion and we had to start over. We’re in the latter phases of that starting over and hopefully we’re getting a script in the next month or two, and we’ll go back to Crystal Lake.” I’m very happy to hear

Today we celebrate the mothers that made us who we are. Let us take a look at the mothers who made our favorite horror characters who they are and moms who made some of our favorite horror movies awesome. Norma Bates : Mother to Norman Bates. Norma and Norman’s relationship was key to Hitchcock’s ‘Psycho’ (1960). Through out the original movie we see glimpses of Norma moving about and committing murder or did we? No, at the end of the movie we find out it was all Norman, played by Anthony Perkins, dressed as his mom. Norma has been dead for years and kept in the house in her chair. We also learn of the strange relationship between Norma and Norman. The question is, was the relationship that turned Norman into a twisted killer or was he just born that way? The film spawned several sequels, a remake (1998) and the series ‘Bates Motel’. “A boy’s best friend is his

I had the opportunity to talk with a true horror legend, Victor Miller, Jason’s true father. Many of you will instantly recognize his name and the influence he has had on the horror genre. For those of you who don’t know his name, you should, he wrote the original ‘Friday the 13th’. Besides having a killer horror legacy, Victor has three Emmy Awards and Four Writer’s Guild awards to his name for his time as a TV drama writer. Victor is also a talented voice-over actor. Victor has been involved in many projects over the years. He is now working on a new project, the horror film ‘Rock Paper Dead’. Miller is working alongside Kerry Fleming on the psychological/slasher film about serial killer Peter Harris, nicknamed ‘The Doll Maker. When Peter Harris is pronounced “cured” and released from the mental asylum he returns home. Harris is able to keep his impulses in control until he meets a beautiful young woman

Last night I sat down for an interview with Kerry Fleming, the co-writer and co-producer of the horror movie ‘Rock Paper Dead’. Mr. Fleming and I had the best conversation about horror, that I’ve had in a very long time. It was very refreshing to hear him talk about his horror movie and the genre the way he did, with so much enthusiasm and pride. I know that those emotions will be evident in the quality of this movie, which I can’t wait to see. When I first heard about ‘Rock Paper Dead’ I was excited by the actors that had already signed up for roles, a group of true horror legends. ‘Cujo’ actress Dee Wallace, Michael Berryman of ‘The Hills Have Eyes’, and both Kane Hodder and Ari Lehman, who have played Jason in ‘Friday The 13th’, are all the cast list. ‘Rock Paper Dead’ also stars ‘X-Men’ actor Bruce Davison and Mikaela Hoover of the 2014 hit ‘Guardians
