When it comes to classic horror, you don’t get much more iconic than writer-director Sam Raimi’s 1981 film The Evil Dead, which has spawned sequels, a reboot, a TV series, and a game franchise. This October the cherished film is returning to theaters to celebrate its 40th anniversary. In addition to the part horror, part comedy film’s theatrical return, attendees will be treated to an exclusive introduction from star Bruce Campbell, who portrayed the franchise’s iconic lead character, Ashley “Ash” Williams. In the first installment of Raimi’s famed original Evil Dead trilogy, Ash (Campbell), his girlfriend Linda (Baker), his sister Cheryl (Sandweiss), and couple Scotty (Delrich) and Shelly (York), drive to a remote cabin in the woods for a fun getaway. While there, they find the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis (aka “The Book of the Dead”), an ancient tome whose text reawakens the dead when read out loud. After unintentionally releasing a flood of evil, the five friends must fight for their

Movie Review: Bad Girls (2021)

Those eponymous Bad Girls, Val (Morgan Shaley Renew), Mitzi (Senethia Dresch), and Carolyn (Shelby Lois Guinn) by name, are (metaphorically) balls deep in one hell of an orgy of sex and violence as they rob and fuck their way on a roadtrip down Mexico way and sweet, sweet freedom. Along the way, our anti-heroines kidnap some rock stars, Bard Gainsworth (Cleveland Langdale) of Christmas Tits and Zerox Rhodesia (Micah Peroulis) of Poltergasm to be precise, which adds to the “sex” quotient mentioned up yonder, not to mention adding fistfuls of drugs (including theta from co-writer/director Christopher Bickel’s 2017 flick The Theta Girl)… so yeah, this turns into a complete psychotronic experience right fuckin’ quick! Will Val and the gals make it through this ballet of bullets (and the occasional knife), boobs, and bloodshed intact? Yeah, like I’d really tell you that… Because you cats n’ creeps dig on comparisons, let’s go with: Bad Girls is like the end result of

Eli Roth’s New Horror Movie Begins Filming This Month

Last year Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel, Hostel 2, The Green Inferno) went outside the horror genre for his movies The House with the Clock in its Walls, a family-friendly tale, and his revenge thriller Death Wish. We all knew that it wouldn’t be long before he would be returning to his horror roots and we were right. It appears he has a new horror flick in the works. Set to kick off filming in Boston this month, the still-untitled film was co-written by Roth and Jeff Rendell, according to Production Weekly. Here’s the interesting thing, Rendell was also the co-writer of Roth’s faux movie trailer for the faux movie Thanksgiving (below) which was featured in the movie Grindhouse from Miramax, who happens to be teaming up with Roth for this feature film. Could this be a feature film version of Thanksgiving? Maybe. We’ll have to wait to find out.

Blu-ray Review: Streets of Vengeance (2016)

After a seemingly tacked on host segment meant to simulate a USA Up All Night Style program (perhaps added to extend the film’s run time and make it seem like any flaws in the finished product are intentional…something your’s cruelly would know nothing about), Streets of Vengeance begins in earnest, letting us know right off the bat that a psycho (who seems to be part of some anti-sex cult called The Sword) stalks the mean streets slicing and dicing sex workers with wild abandon. Enter porn starlet Mila ( Delawna McKinney) the hottest rising talent in porn who is preparing for her farewell from the industry while she is on top, which begins to set up our list of suspects; could the killer be Mila’s sleazy manager angry about losing his top star, or how about her bickering male co-stars, or could it be Garrett Sullivan (Daniel James Moody) an anti-porn advocate who partakes in a heated televised debate with

Movie Review: Basket Case is the Greatest Grindhouse Creature Feature Ever Made!

Small-town boy Duane Bradley arrives in the sleazy and deranged hell on Earth more commonly known as ’80’s New York City with a strange basket in tow. What bring’s him to the Big Apple you may ask? Just your simple lust for revenge against the shady doctors that surgically removed his horrendously deformed twin brother Belial from his side years previous in a traumatic operation. You can just guess what’s in the damn basket, can’t ya? Before long, both doctors and the tenants of the run down apartment building the the brother’s call home alike begin to fall to the teeth and talons of Belial, who in turn becomes even more enraged by the romance that begins to bloom between Duane and the comely receptionist of one of the doctors they murder. The body count escalates as the relationship between the brothers begins to crumble… Basket Case is, in my opinion, the ultimate grindhouse creature feature; it’s sleazy (there’s that

Movie Review: The Gruesome Twosome is an Essential Addition to any Gore Hound’s Library!

In Herschell Gordon Lewis’ (The Godfather of Gore) The Gruesome Twosome we are introduced to an elderly woman and her mentally handicapped son; a duo with a strange hobby, namely scalping comely young lasses and selling their hair as wigs to meet customer demand (well, we learn of this after an introduction featuring two talking Styrofoam heads…because yes…). Anyway, before long a snoopy co-ed named Kathy begins weaving clues together and discovers the hair-raising truth, but can the demented duo be stopped before they kill again? Filled with off-kilter performances, a tongue in cheek story line, and crude yet effective (and groundbreaking) gore effects, The Gruesome Twosome is a ton of goofy, gory, fright flick fun! It also runs a lean hour and eleven minutes so it rock n’ rolls along at a good clip (even with padding such as the slumber party dancing and KFC chomping mash up, and Kathy’s ultra-shitty detective work…oh and the potato chip and fruit

Syfy’s ‘Blood Drive’ Is An Insane, Gore-Filled, Fun Ride – A Review

Syfy has really stepped up their original content over the past couple of years. Their upcoming series Blood Drive is great example of that. In fact it is one of my favorite new shows. In the series, a young cop named Arthur Bailey (Alan Ritchson) may be the last remaining decent cop left after the U.S. has gone to hell thanks to the “Scar”, a huge, deep crack in the country, and a severe drought that has left food scarce, and water hard to get. In fact, people are secretly selling their blood for water. Crazy, right? You might be wondering why anyone would need so much blood, with gas prices insanely high a group of underground racers have modified their rides to run off of blood, human blood. When Officer Bailey and his partner Chris (Thomas Dominique) get a tip from a snitch (Nathan Lynn), who trades info for water, they stumble across a warehouse filled with freaks and
