New ‘Halloween’ Teaser Gives Fans A Taste Of The Soundtrack

Last week, a fake song from Halloween spread like fire online. Today, we have the first real taste of the soundtrack. Not only is John Carpenter, creator of the franchise, executive producing Blumhouse’s new Halloween, he also composed the soundtrack, along with his son Cody, and Daniel Davies (Lost Themes). Sacred Bones Records has now released a short teaser of the main theme, giving fans a taste of what’s to come. Sacred Bones Records describes the new soundtrack: “The new soundtrack pays homage to the classic Halloween score that Carpenter composed and recorded in 1978 when he forever changed the course of horror cinema and synthesizer music with his low-budget masterpiece. Several new versions of the iconic main theme serve as the pulse of Green’s film, its familiar 5/4 refrain stabbing through the soundtrack like the Shape’s knife. In fact, they have already pitched the sequel to Blumhouse. We were going to shoot two of them back-to-back,” McBride said to EW. “Then we were like, Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. This could come out, and everyone could hate us, and we’d never work again. So, let’s not have to sit around for a year while we wait for another movie to come out that we know people aren’t going to like. So, we were like, Let’s learn from this, and see what works, and what doesn’t. But we definitely have an idea of where we would go [with] this branch of the story and hopefully, we get a chance to do it.” It’s likely that Blumhouse would wait to announce a sequel after they see how fans respond when Halloween
