Halloween’s Biggest Fan Builds An Insane Replica Of The Myers House

Kenny Caperton may be one of the most hardcore ‘Halloween’ fans on earth. A couple of years ago he built a perfect replica of the ‘Halloween’ house in his home town of Hillsborough, North Carolina, where he lives with his wife. The real Myers house is in South Pasadena, California, but Caperton built his down to the smallest detail and that’s pretty damn awesome! On Halloween Caperton will be throwing his seventh annual bash, complete with tours of the house, food, a pumpkin carving contest, a viewing of of ‘Halloween 3’ on a giant outdoor screen and writer/director Buddy Cooper will be there signing autographs and it’s all free to the public. The 90s: Designer Horror

Jordache Horror Somewhere in the 80s, someone got the idea that horror should be less frightening and more sexy and trendy. I am not sure where it happened, but a good starting point might be Michael Jackson’s Thriller. The “World Premiere Video” back when MTV aired videos and before its implosion was the thing to see. Director John Landis was in between the smash hit horror classic, An American Werewolf in London and the public relations nightmare of Twilight Zone: The Movie. Michael Jackson was truly The King of Pop, and his LP, Thriller elevated MTV into something else…exactly what, I don’t know, but Thriller was more than a video. It was a pop culture event and it used horror as its spring board. Vincent Price became known to a the Pepsi Generation as “the old dude who “rapped” in Thriller and laughed at the end. ‘Hellions’ Are Coming !

The new trailer for director Bruce McDonald’s creepy Halloween feature ‘Hellions’, has been released and it looks great. This twisted movie stars Chloe Rose, Rossif Sutherlan, Peter Dacunha, Rachel Wilson, Luke Bilyk and Robert Patrick. In ‘Hellions’ a young woman, Dora (Chloe Rose) is under attack on Halloween from a group of other-worldly Hellions who want something much more precious than candy. Dora must fight to protect herself and her unborn child in this Halloween tale of survival. ‘Hellions’ will arrive in theaters and on VOD on September 18th from IFC Midnight.

Go Shopping A persistent misconception immediately after the 911 attacks in 2001 is that President George W. Bush urged Americans “to go shopping.” This was not the case. Over the years it’s been simplified into that message. In reality The President said this, “It’s to tell the traveling public: Get on board. Do your business around the country. Fly and enjoy America’s great destination spots. Get down to Disney World in Florida. Take your families and enjoy life, the way we want it to be enjoyed.” George Bush, White House Archives Not once was the word “shop” or any form of it used. This is not a political defense. Rather, something in that speech to a shocked nation did stand out to me, and can be applied to the entertainment industry. Cynema: Fright Night or…Why Remake When You Can Retitle?

A Valentine To Old School Horror Remaking a film falls under the old adage: “Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.” Netflix reviews or more accurately, article comments are dotted with such phrases like: “the film is old” or “it’s dated.” Better yet, “it’s foreign.” All three signify a concern in American pop culture: a fixation on the superficial and a refusal to give anything deemed “old” a chance, largely by a generation that prides itself on ignorance and is unappreciative for the previous work done by others that affords it the indifference it treats anything deemed unworthy of its attention. Gather Round Your TV Sets, Kids “You don’t really know much about Halloween.” – Conal Cochran Oh, You Mean THAT Halloween Movie… It’s the one without Michael Myers. It has nothing to do with the other movies. This one sucks. Right? Well you’re right on two counts. Halloween III: Season of the Witch does not have Michael Myers. It is not connected in any way to the Jamie Lee Curtis storyline started with the 1978 John Carpenter classic and most importantly, it was never meant to. Cynema: Ed Wood–Hollywood’s Whipping Boy

No Respect Apparently Michael Medved, the respected film critic gets the credit with dubbing Edward Wood, Jr. the “worst director of all time” by referring to Wood’s crowning film achievement, Plan Nine From Outer Space as perhaps the worst motion picture ever made. This is not only to come to the late Mr. Wood’s defense, but to also show how off the mark Mr. Medved was in his 1980 book The Golden Turkey Awards. Wood is the antithesis of Cynema–his passion and love for film makes him one of Hollywood’s greatest directors. Say what you want about Plan Nine, Bride of the Monster or Glen or Glenda…bad films, yes. Bad directing, absolutely. However Ed Wood was not a cynic. What Is Cynema? For those of you wanting to be filmmakers, screenwriters or even actors, this blog is a way to address a trend that’s been gaining cultural power in the entertainment world. It is not column about how much you “love” or “hate” a movie. This will look at certain films that fit criteria called “Cynema” while other films examined will be those deserving of a second chance and look. Cynema: The cynical practice of contempt for an audience in the making of product that is devoid of creativity, passion, production value or respect while having the financial and creative means to do better. Halloween Horror Nights Featuring ‘The Walking Dead’

The Halloween Horror Nights has already announced that mazes based on the horror movies ‘Insidious‘ and Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Crimson Peak‘ . The news has now come that ‘The Walking Dead’ will once again have it’s own feature at the attraction. Horror Nights had a Terminus inspired maze last year. This time around more of the Walking Dead universe will be explored, including a “Wolves Not Far” inspired section of the maze. Watch out for those hungry walkers, they’ll be chasing after visitors, looking for their next bite to eat. The Halloween Horror Nights attraction, at Universal Orlando Resort, will open September 18th. The Maze, titled ‘The Walking Dead: The Living and the Dead’, will put visitors right into the flooded food bank scene where soggy, half rotten walkers are waiting for you in the water, as well as in many other scenes from the hit show. Michael Myers Is Back In A New Movie Titled ‘Halloween Returns’

Michael Myers is back again, in a new film titled ‘Halloween Returns’. Dimension Films has announced that the new ‘Halloween’ has now entered preproduction. ‘Halloween Returns’ will not be connected to Rob Zombie’s version of the 1979 classic or the original series. Patrick Melton will be co-writing the script along with Marcus Dunstan, who will be also directing. The duo, who have teamed up many times before, are behind several of the ‘Saw’ sequels, ‘Pacific Rim’, ‘The Collector’ and it’s sequel. Dunstan and Melton ‘Halloween Returns’ follows a new group of Haddonfield teens. The 18-year-old kid of one of Michael’s victims and the kid of a cop, obsessed with the murders, arrive at the prison. along with their friends, where Michael is held on death row. They are there to watch him be executed, but when Michael escapes, the kids and their friends are in serious danger. ‘Halloween Returns’ will begin filming next month (July).
