Movie Review: Inner Demons (2014)

I’ve heard the saying “inner demons” many times when it comes to someone with problems of addiction, both when it comes to alcohol and with drugs. The movie ‘Inner Demons’ explores the possibility that there could be more behind addiction, like demons. I sat down with my lap top to write and chose ‘Inner Demons’ to watch in between typing lines. I will admit when I first hit play, that I thought I was about to watch another mediocre movie, I was wrong. After a few minutes the movie had caught my attention and I actually set aside my lap top, which is rare when I’ve got deadlines to meet. ‘Inner Demons’ began with a documentary crew filming the story of Carson, a young woman strung out on several drugs. It started off with hints of a darker story underneath the main plot. When she begins rehabilitation and the drugs begin to leave her system her erratic behavior begins to

The disappointment of not being on the shore is lightened by the fact that the house is sitting on a lake. As the party begins, the friends begin to disappear one by one. Blumhouse Presents ‘Creep’

When Aaron (Patrick Brice), a videographer, answers a Craigslist ad for a one-day job filming a terminally ill man’s “day in the life” video for his unborn son, in a remote mountain town, he gets much more than he bargained for. The client, played by Mark Duplass, is not the man he seems to be. Mark Duplass, known for his roles in ‘The Lazarus Effect’ and in the series ‘The League’, co-wrote ‘Creep’ along with award winning ‘Wolf Creek’ director Patrick Brice, who also directed this found-footage thriller. The duo serve as the only cast members in the film. Duplass and Brice intend for ‘Creep’ to be the first film of a trilogy. Brice and Duplass ‘Creep’ will be released on July 14th.

Movie Review: Late Phases (2014)

On his first night in his new home, blind Vietnam Vet Ambrose (Nick Damici) and his dog Shadow are attacked. On the same night his elderly neighbor is also brutally murdered. The cops say it was an animal attack, there have been a lot of them lately. Ambrose did not see who it was, but he has an idea what it was. When the full moon comes again, he’ll be ready. In the mean time, he is determined to put the pieces together of who could be killing members of the community and the creature that killed his beloved Shadow. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a good werewolf movie, ‘Late Phases’ was just what I needed. This movie is not the usual, nonstop, action packed, gore filled werewolf movie, it takes the time to build a real story. You actually become invested in the characters and you really want justice for Shadow’s murder, damn it. Scriptwriter Eric Stolze

Movie Review: Nightlight (2014)

WARNING! May Contain spoilers! The directing duo of Scott Beck and Bryan Woods bring us ‘Nightlight’, a tale of possession, suicide and five dumb kids exploring the woods, while playing idiotic games, like train dodging. This found footage film stars ‘The Social Network’ actress Shelby Young, as the main character Robin, along side Chloe Bridges (The Carrie Diaries), Carter Jenkins (Valentine’s Day), Mitch Hewer (Skins), Kyle Fain (End of Innocents) and Taylor Murphy from the ‘Scream’ series. Robin, the focus of the movie, joins a group of teenagers in the woods for a night of games and to get closer to one of the guys. The five teens head deep into a haunted forest to test their will by participating in a series of “flashlight games”. One by one the kids are separated and killed off by an entity, which is never fully seen. Robin believes that the angry spirit is that of her friend who committed suicide there, but

Movie Review: ‘The Occupants’ (2014)

Lucy’s life seems pretty nice, she has a caring husband, a beautiful baby and a new home. She seems to have it all, until her and her husband, Wade, begin to see the spirits of a man, his wife and daughter. Lucy wants to help the family, but when she and Wade begin to be physically attacked, she doesn’t know what to do except to protect her baby. Nothing in this movie is what it seems. When everything comes to light in the last fifteen minutes of the ‘The Occupants’ , it makes you question everything you have seen in the entire movie, it’s a psychological twist you won’t see coming. I was very impressed with Cristin Milioti’s (The Wolf of Wall Street) portrayal of the main role of Lucy. Michael Rady (J. Edgar) plays the role of supporting husband. Holly Golden and Todd Alcott, who also directed, did a great job of creating a nice movie. The action and

Movie Review: 7500 (2014)

I have been waiting to see ‘7500’ for a long time. It was supposed to be released back in 2012, but just recently landed in select theaters. ‘7500’, directed by Takashi Shimizu, the man behind ‘The Grudge’ franchise, was written by Craig Rosenberg (The Uninvited). This supernatural film has a great cast that includes ‘True Blood’ actor Ryan Kwanten, Amy Smart (Mirrors), Leslie Bibb (Iron Man 1 and 2), Jamie Chung (Sucker Punch), Scout Taylor-Compton (Halloween 1 and 2 (remakes), Alex Frost (The Lost), Johnathon Schaech ( Quarantine), Jerry Ferrar (Entourage) and Christian Serratos of ‘The Walking Dead”. Imagine being 30,000 feet in the air when an unseen entity begins to inflict terror on a plane full passengers, that’s exactly what happens on flight ‘7500’ out of L.A. bound for Tokyo. When a mysterious man suddenly dies mid flight it’s only the first event of a horrible flight. The flight attendants relocate the first class passengers down to Economy Class
