One of the few, and I mean very few, remakes I’ve looked forward to seeing is director Marcel Walz’s Blood Fest, originally released in 1963 by H.G. Lewis. While the trailer for the revamped film was released last June, we’ve been waiting to learn of a theatrical release date. Walz revealed to Shock Till You Drop that a distribution deal has been struck and Medallion Releasing will be unleashing Blood Feast in theaters on April 28, 2017. Starring Robert Rusler, Caroline Williams, Sophie Monk, and Sadie Katz, the story centers on Fuad Ramses (Rusler) and his family who have moved from the US to France, where they run a diner. With business not going well, Fuad takes a second job as the night shift at a museum of ancient Egyptian culture. During the long, lonely nights, he finds himself drawn to an ancient statue of the goddess Ishtar (Katz). He becomes more and more drawn to her as she speaks

Hollywood’s new obsession is remaking every horror movie possible, at least that how it seems. Now, 1968’s Witchfinder General, also known as The Conqueror Worm, originally starred horror icon Vincent Price and directed by Michael Reeves, has been added to the long list of movies being remade over the next two years. Witchfinder General, based on the 1966 novel by Ronald Bassett of the same name, centers on a young soldier determined to end the evils done by a vicious and greed driven witch hunter. Nicholas Winding Refn, known for his films Drive and the upcoming film The Neon Demon, will be heading the project. There is no word yet who will be in the director’s chair or who will be cast. But whoever is cast in the role of Matthew Hopkins, Price’s role, has some big shoes to fill.

There is currently a remake of the 1990’s supernatural thriller Flatliners in the works, according to THR. Niels Arden Oplev (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) is set to direct the film that will be penned by Ben Ripley. Elysium actor Diego Page is currently in negotiations to star opposite Ellen Page. The original Flatliners was directed by Joel Schumacher and starred Kevin Bacon, Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Oliver Platt and William Baldwin. In the film four medical students set out to conduct an experimenter to discover what comes after death. Each student takes their turn having their heart stopped in an attempt to discover what lies beyond before being revived. During the experiment each person is haunted by traumatic events from their pasts, but when they return to life the lines between life and the afterlife are blurred. Many horror fans have expressed that they have grown tired of remakes/reboots and I agree. Some critics may welcome a new version
