David Gordon Green’s ‘The Exorcist’ Will NOT Be A Reboot

David Gordon Green, the brilliant director behind the new Halloween trilogy, is co-writing and directing the upcoming movie The Exorcist for Morgan Creek and Blumhouse. While some sites are reporting that it is a reboot, according to our sources, the new movie is in fact a SEQUEL! While the title and plot are still being kept quiet, we do know that the movie will be set years after the events of the 1973 original, in the same way as Green’s Halloween (2018) was for that franchise. Mike Sprague is set to pen the script. We also know that William Friedkin will sadly not be involved in the sequel. Horror heavy-hitter Jason Blum will be producing alongside David Robinson and James Robinson. Blumhouse, who was behind Halloween, continues to dominate the horror genre. Green’s Halloween was a huge hit, grossing a massive $255 million worldwide and claiming the title of the second-highest opening at the box offices in the horror genre

Supernatural Terror Is Unleashed In The New Trailer For ‘The Vigil’

The official trailer is here for writer-director Keith Thomas‘ thrilling supernatural horror, The Vigil which delves into ancient Jewish lore and demonology. Starring Dave Davis, Menashe Lustig, and Lynn Cohen, the film is set over the course of a single evening in Brooklyn’s Hasidic Borough Park neighborhood. Low on funds and having recently left his insular religious community, Yakov (Dave Davis) reluctantly accepts an offer from his former rabbi and confidante (Menashe Lustig) to take on the responsibility of an overnight “shomer,” fulfilling the Jewish practice of watching over the body of a deceased community member. Shortly after arriving at the recently departed’s dilapidated house to sit the vigil, Yakov begins to realize that something is very, very wrong. When I sat down to write the very first draft of THE VIGIL, I knew I wanted to tell a personal story that felt universal. The movie would be very contained and the stakes would, at first glance, seem small –

But when Rain insists against her parents’ (Katherine Heigl and Harry Connick, Jr.) advice that the shadows and cries from her neighbor’s attic are hiding a dark secret, she enlists help from Caleb (Israel Broussard), the charmingly awkward new boy at school – who himself may not be real. Written and directed by Castille Landon (After We Fell, After Ever Happy). Dori A. Rath, p.g.a., Joseph J. Restraino, p.g.a., Robert Molloy, and Joe Riley produce. Fear

Short Film Review: Day of the Pigs (2020)

A trio of lethal luchadores, El Apache (Tino Zamora), Manny (Manuel Ramirez), and Guero (Art Paul) by name, botch a robbery and find themselves well and truly on the lam. Their numbers soon reduced by one due to misadventure; our deadly duo find themselves in the home of a couple of lovely ladies, Starletta (Sparkle Soojian) and Violet (Nikki Curtis Jones) to be precise, that seem more than accommodating to our protagonists… that is until some supernatural shit hits the fan right quick! Full of grindhouse bravura, bad dudes, strange transformations, and femme fatales; Day of the Pigs does a hell of a lot to satisfy the ol’ terror tooth in it’s brief twelve minute runtime. Writer/Director Michael S. Rodriguez (along with Raul Cantu on story assist) brings quite the fully fleshed out concept to life in this one boils n’ ghouls and presents a world of larcenous masked madmen, southern belle witches, body horror, and most importantly… bacon, and

Movie Review: Smiley Face Killers: Moodiness And Man Butt Win Out Over Horror

Director Tim Hunter’s true story inspired horror Smiley Face Killers has just been released, and I’ve always found the true crimes interesting, so I decided to check it out. What I found wasn’t good. The synopsis reads as followed: “a handsome young soccer player Jake Graham who believes he is going insane, unable to shake the feeling of being stalked by something, by someone.” The film takes its inspiration from a series of mysterious deaths linked by the smiley face graffiti found near the crime scenes. The victims are all killed by mysteriously being drowned and have been deemed nonaccidental. Unfortunately, the movie treats the killings as a secondary theme with Jake’s depression and body exploitation at the forefront. The majority of the movie is just watching Ronen Rubinstein go from scene to scene shedding his clothes and acting moody as hell. Sure, Ronen Rubinstein is a handsome guy but I was there to watch a horror movie, not a
