From the Creator Of Final Destination Comes ‘The Call’ – Out This Halloween

“Four Friends. One Phone Call. 60 Seconds to Stay Alive. In the fall of 1987, a group of small-town friends must survive the night in the home of a sinister couple after a tragic accident occurs in The Call. Needing only to make a single phone call, the request seems rather simple until they realize that this call could change their life…or end it.” Led by horror icons Lin Shaye (Insidious franchise, Ouija) and Tobin Bell (Saw, Jigsaw), The Call has been a hit with both audiences and critics alike. In addition to the strong performances from the cast, the film benefited from the uncompromising direction of Timothy Woodward Jr. and the fear-inducing vision of Final Destination creator Jeffrey Reddick whose film Don’t Look Back (review) has also just been released. After a successful nationwide theatrical and drive-in run, The Call premieres on October 30th on Premium VOD and Digital platforms.

Loretta Devine Talks The Magic And The Horrors Of 'Spell' In Our Interview

Loretta Devine Talks The Magic And The Horrors Of ‘Spell’ In Our Interview

When you hear certain actresses’ names, you know they will bring prestige to any film or series they star—actresses with an incredible talent that never fails to impress. Loretta Devine is one of those actresses. I’ve followed her career from Waiting to Exhale to the Urban Legend franchise, “Supernatural,” and everything in between. That includes her most recent role in the supernatural horror Spell from director Mark Tonderai and writer Kurt Wimmer. In Spell, Omari Hardwick stars as Marquis. He and his family leave the big city aboard his plane to return to the Tennesse mountains, where he was born, for his father’s funeral. When the plane is caught in a terrible storm, it crashes. Marquis wakes to find that he’s in the attic of Eloise (Mrs. Devine) and her husband, not knowing where his family is or that Eloise isn’t the kind of southern woman he thinks she is. Serious “root magic” is at play here that will change

Movie Review: Come Play

When Oliver, a young boy, reads a story online about misunderstood monsters he has no idea that is about to unleash a monster, putting himself and his parents in the path of a relentless entity hellbent on dragging Oliver back to his world. Being autistic and no-verbal (he doesn’t talk) has left Oliver with no friends and with a mother who struggles to cope with the situation. The monster in this film is drawn to the boy because of his loneliness. Making the situation both sad and frightening. While yes, Come Play is a horror film, it’s also much more. It’s about one family’s struggle to cope with autism. I guess it affected me more than it will some others. You see, I have an autistic nephew who is precious. He was non-verbal for years and the thought that something or someone could get to him through his loneliness scares the hell out of me as does the thought that

Movie Review: ‘Spell’ Is A Horror Movie With Serious Mojo

There are a ton of horror movies released every year, so when one is released that’s original, clever, and truly horrifying it deserves to be celebrated. That’s why we are here to talk about Spell (2020), a brilliantly dark and twisted movie that you need to see! Omari Hardwick (“Power”) stars as Marquis T. Woods, a man who escaped his abusive father and the Kentucky mountains to become a big city lawyer with a beautiful family. When he gets the call that his father has died he and his family board his Cessna plane and head to the place he’s tried so hard to forget. Unfortunately, a terrible storm hits and the plane crashes. When he wakes up in the home of a strange couple he finds himself a prisoner and has no clue as to what happened to his family. He soon realizes that his rescuer (Loretta Devine) is skilled in the ways of Hoodoo and that his life

Dark Sky Films Snags Award-Winning Horror Thriller ‘Caveat’

Dark Sky Films today announced that it has acquired all U.S. distribution rights to Caveat, the acclaimed new suspense thriller from rising director Damian McCarthy. Dark Sky parent company MPI Media Group will be handling worldwide sales of the film and will bring it to the American Film Market in November. The film is set mainly in an isolated house on a remote island. When Isaac (Jonathan French, A Soldier’s Voice), a lone drifter with partial memory loss, accepts a job to look after his landlord’s niece Olga (Leila Sykes, Missing Something, Lancaster Skies) for a few days it all seems like easy money, but there is a caveat: he must wear a leather harness and chain that restricts his movements to certain rooms. Once Olga’s uncle, Barrett (Ben Caplan, Call the Midwife, Band of Brothers), leaves the two of them alone, a game of cat and mouse ensues as Olga displays ever worsening psychological issues. With Isaac trapped and

DVD Review: Hosts (2020)

Ahh, the ho-ho-holidays, a time of gift givin’, merry makin’, and eating tons of fucking food. Speaking of which, that is precisely what’s on the agenda for Jack (Neal Ward) and Lucy (Samantha Loxley); a sickeningly in-love young couple who are set to have a nice meal with their neighbors Michael (Frank Jakeman), Cassie (Jennifer K. Preston), and their offspring; Eric (Lee Hunter), Lauren (Nadia Lamin) and Ben (Buddy Skelton). There is a slight hiccup in the night’s plans however as our young heroes find themselves possessed by an unknown entity just before they head out for their dinner date… and let me tell you; these shiny-eyed psychopaths really, and I mean really know how to ruin a dinner party in spectacular fashion! Fucking hell; Hosts grabbed me by the beastly balls and dragged me through a world of suspense, shock, and supernatural shenanigans… and I loved every monstrous minute of it! Co-writers/co-directors Adam Leader and Richard Oakes have created

10 Horror Movies That Went Too Far Leaving Actors Wounded Or Dead

Most horror films are filled with special effects, but sometimes things go too far and actors themselves get injured during filming, in an attempt to go above and beyond to make sure that their character feels authentic. Here are a few times that things went too far. Check out the list and watch the scenes where they were injured or killed. Suspiria (2018) Dakota Johnson went through agony while filming the 2o18 remake of Suspiria. Filming messed up the actress so bad that she told EW that she ended up in therapy. Filing conditions were absolutely brutal. Much of the film was shot in an abandoned hotel on top of a mountain where it was so cold the cast and crew were left freezing constantly. The physical strain from the dancing scene after the scene left the cast exhausted and in pain much of the time. The Shining During a conversation with film critic Robert Ebert, Shelly Duvall was asked
