The poster has arrived for Harley Wallen’s (Eternal Code) horror film Ash and Bone, starring Jamie Bernadette (I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu) and Mel Novak (Bruce Lee’s Game of Death). The film follows a rebellious teen named Cassie Vanderbilt (Angelina Danielle Cama), whose wild streak escalates as her caring father Lucas (Harley Wallen) decides to take her and his new wife Sarah (Kaiti Wallen) out of the city for some bonding and quality time together. But after Cassie crosses the infamous McKinley family (Jimmy Doom and Erika Hoveland), it becomes clear that sometimes danger lies hidden in the weeds, ready to strike at any moment. Ash and Bone, penned by Bret Miller, is produced by Painted Creek Productions, Cama Productions, and Auburn Moon. Calhoun Koenig (Law & Order SVU) and Shane Hagedorn (Wild Faith) round out the cast. The imagery I believe is our best yet and I felt the performances on both sides of the camera were

The original I Spit on Your Grave (a.k.a. Day of the Woman), Meir Zarchi’s 1978 exploitation masterpiece was a revolution when released. Here was the story of a woman taking control of a male influenced society…and while the flick dealt in metaphor (the debasing rape wasn’t far removed of how a male-dominated society felt about women at the time…a mere object to be dominated and played with; but seldom considered an equal…so you can imagine the liberation the women in the audience felt when Camille Keaton’s Jennifer exacts her vengeance…including castration, on the lethal Lotharios what did her wrong), the message was loud and clear; sisters can indeed do it for themselves! Flash forward to our turbulent times, when women rightfully consider themselves marginalized, and lo and behold Zarchi returns with a direct sequel to his ’70’s masterpiece; I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu. Will it be the vicious voice of a new distaff generation in the horror biz

Joey (modern scream queen Jamie Bernadette, who co-wrote and produced the feature as well) and her gaggle of gal pals get together for a lil’ soiree; but things go to shit when Tyler (David Villada) arrives with his drugs…a skull mask, a demonic pizza boy, and bloodshed ensue…as is always the way isn’t my creeps? Memories of the night are sketchy, but are they really so sketchy that you’d get together with these ladies again a few years later in a secluded location (the bog standard cabin in the woods) and party hardy once more…or at least try to move on with their lives? This being a fright flick, we all know damn well the answer is a resounding “Yes”. We may also predict that things are going to go south quicker than a truck stop hooker…but that isn’t entirely the case (more on that below), but eventually the friends begin to see ol’ skull faced Tyler (or is it?)

The highly-anticipated horror film The 6th Friend, from star, producer, and writer Jamie Bernadette (interview), will open theatrically this January from The Asylum. To celebrate the announcement a new poster has been unveiled. For Bernadette (I Spit on Your Grave: Déjà vu, “Midnight, Texas”), news of a theatrical for the film is the best Christmas present she could’ve asked for. Having co-written the screenplay, I’ve lived with the 6th Friend – figuratively speaking – for a long time. I guess you’d say it’s my wonderfully wicked horror baby – I’m so darn proud of it. Hearing news of a theatrical from our distributor, The Asylum, is music to my ears and I just know audiences are going to love seeing the six of us try and evade the uninvited guest of the movie together in a theater! Here’s to offering horror fans their first bigscreen scream of the new year!”. “The poster tips audiences off to what they can expect
