Short Film Review: The Devil and I (2018)

In Colonial Canada, a woman (Ariel Hansen) with an uneasy lot in life takes some verbal tongue lashin’ from a real son of a bitch of a man (James Kingstone)…a son of a bitch that freezes into a human statue as a large talking dog appears (yeah, sometimes I can’t believe the shit I type for this website either…but trust me, this is actually handled in a completely serious and somber manner). Any way it seems our heroine has been having affair with the man’s wife, and before you can say Son of Sam(uel Adams), that preternatural pup (played by Apollo with voice provided by Jesse Inocalla) gives our protagonist a plan to make things go her way. With it’s unique, period setting and near-fairy tale vibe, The Devil and I is an entertaining slice of short fright flick deviltry. Adding to the overall vibe of the piece are authentic costumes and manners of speaking that reflect the film’s 1800’s

Enter ‘Valley Of The Rats’ – On Blu-ray And DVD This March

Vince D’Amato’s Valley of the Rats will be arriving later this month from Shivers Entertainment and Darkside Releasing. In the thriller, a man is falsely accused of his girlfriend’s murder. He goes in search of his killer, only to uncover an even stranger mystery. Tristan Risk (American Mary), Momona Komagata (Peelers), and Jesse Inocalla star with a special appearance by Lynn Lowry. Valley of the Rats will be released in three versions and in both a standard 2-disc release, and an ultra-limited 3-disc set which includes a full-length live performance by Tristan Risk’s ‘Caravan of Creeps’ burlesque troupe (100 units), and exclusive to Shivers Entertainment, the limited 3-disc set that includes the International version (500 units). Darkside’s website will also offer a specially-priced pack that includes the 2-disc Valley of the Rats Blu-ray and 2017’s House of VHS Blu-ray/DVD combo.
