Horror Anthology Series “Monsterland” Premieres This October On Hulu

With Halloween quickly approaching, Hulu is getting ready to give genre fans a real treat, the premiere of the highly-anticipated horror anthology series “Monsterland.” Created and executed produced by Mary Laws, based on Nathan Ballingrud’s short story collection “North American Lake Monsters“, the gore-filled 8-episode series is set in different cities across America, featuring tales of mermaids, vampires, angels, and wild beasts as well as people struggling to get their lives back on track. The cast includes Kelly Marie Tran (The Last Jedi), Jonathan Tucker (“Hannibal”, Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Taylor Schilling (The Prodigy), Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart), and Mike Colter (“Evil”). First Two Stars Announced For Hulu’s “Monsterland”

The first casting news is here for Hulu‘s upcoming series “Monsterland.” Jonathan Tucker (Westworld, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, pictured above) and Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart, Them That Follow, pictured below) are set to star in the premiere episode. The series is based on Nathan Ballingrud’s short story collection “North American Monsters“, which we first reported back in May. The first eight episodes of the series will feature tales of encounters with mermaids, fallen angels and other strange beasts that drive broken people to desperate acts in an attempt to repair their lives, ultimately showing there is a thin line between man and monster. In the premiere episode, “Overwhelmed and underwater, teen mother Toni (Dever) is trapped in her dead-end life until a mysterious stranger shows her that escape is possible… but only if she’s willing to pay for it.” The series was created by Mary Laws (“Preacher”) who will serve as the series’ writer and executive producer. AMERICAN GODS Renewed After A Fantastic Start

Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, based on his books by the same title, has only been on the air for two weeks and is already getting a lot of attention, so much that it has just been renewed for season 2, thank god(s). I can only describe the series as brilliant, bold, beautiful, and nothing like we have ever seen before. The story lines keep you hanging on every line of the character’s dialogue. Even the violence, and there is a lot of it, is executed as if it were art. The cinematography, at the hands of Darren Tiernan, Jo Williams, and Aaron Morton, is simply elegant. There is sex, brutality, war, love, passion and mystery. What more could you want? The San Diego Comic Con is in full swing and one of the many trailers that deputed this weekend is for STARZ’s adaption of brilliant writer Neil Gaiman’s novel American Gods (2001). Gaiman also serves as executive producer for the series. American Gods centers on the battle brewing between the Old Gods and the New Gods. The Old Gods are rooted in mythology and the religions of days gone by. The New Gods have found their footing thanks to people’s obsession with money, technology, celebrities, and drugs. The series will also deal with issues such as women’s rights, gun control, racial divides, incarceration and other aspects of today’s society. Executive producer and co-writer Brian Fuller co-wrote the script for American Gods with Michael Green. The two are also working as co-showrunners. We have been closely monitoring the evolution of STARZ’s series adaption of Neil Gaiman’s novel American Gods. Today we can report that comedian/actor Dane Cook has joined the cast of the series. Cook will play the role of Robbie, the best friend of the series’ main character, Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle). Robbie promises to keep Shadow Moon’s job for him while he’s in prison. Two New Stars Join Neil Gaiman’s American Gods Series

The Television series adaption of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods has added actors Jonathan Tucker and Crispin Glover to their cast, TV Line reports. American Gods” follows the mysterious Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle), a man who is released from prison a few days early after serving a three-year sentence for bank robbery when his beloved wife Laura (Emily Browning) is killed in a car accident. Flying home for he funeral, Shadow is seated next to a man who introduces himself only as Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane), and this man knows more about Shadow’s life, both past and present, than is possible. Shadow comes to learn that Wednesday is, in fact, the Norse god Odin.
