1974’s Controversial Film ‘The Night Porter’ Getting A 4K Restoration Release

CultFilms has now announced the 4K restoration of Liliana Cavani‘s highly controversial 1974 thriller The Night Porter. In the film, “former SS Officer Max (Dirk Bogarde) is a night porter in a Vienna hotel in the 1950s, and a member of a group of covert Nazis who is ruthlessly covering up the atrocities they committed. When beautiful Lucia (Charlotte Rampling) checks in with her husband, she recognizes the night porter from her traumatic past: Max was an officer in the concentration camp who had abused and tortured her when she was his teenage prisoner. Soon Lucia’s husband leaves the hotel for work and Lucia stays behind, finding herself compelled to re-ignite the sadomasochistic relationship she had with her vicious captor.” The Night Porter has been controversial since its initial release in 1974, with Roger Ebert describing the film as ‘a despicable attempt to titillate us by exploiting memories of persecution and suffering’. Now, over 45 years later, Liliana Cavani‘s story

Lucifer Himself Confirms ‘Constantine’ Sequel Is In The Works!

Peter Stormare starred as Lucifer in 2005’s supernatural horror Constantine, giving one of the portrayals of Lucifer ever captured on screen. It appears that he has just confirmed that a Constantine sequel is indeed in the works! Stormare has taken to Instagram, posting a picture of himself as Lucifer with the simple caption “Sequel in the works.” While Stormare is the first person “directly involved” to speak out according to Screenrant.com, J.J. Abrams hinted earlier this year that he and director Francis Lawrence (Hunger Games) would return if ever a sequel was made. So we’re keeping our fingers crossed. The 2005 film adaptation of the comic of the same name starred Keanu Reeves as Constantine and Rachel Weiz as Angela. The cast also included Tilda Swinton, Djimon Hounsou, Shia LeBeouf, Pruitt Taylor, and Gavin Rossdale. In the film, an exorcist and demonologist John Constantine sets how to help a policewoman to prove that her sister’s death is not a suicide,

Dwayne Johnson Is Rebooting 2002’s ‘The Scorpion King’

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is teaming up with Universal and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions for the reboot of the 2002 movie The Scorpion King in which Johnson played the title role. ‘The Scorpion King’ was my very first role ever on the silver screen and I’m honored and excited to reimagine and deliver this cool mythology to a new generation.” Variety quotes Johnson as saying. In the original, a desert warrior rises up against the evil army that is destroying his homeland. He captures the enemy’s key sorcerer, takes her deep into the desert, and prepares for a final showdown. The Scorpion King served as somewhat of a prequel explaining the backstory of Johnson’s character that appears briefly in The Mummy Returns, which was plagued with terrible CGI. The new script is being penned by Jonathan Herman, produced by Johnson and Garcia, along with Hiram Garcia, Seven Bucks’ production president. Here’s a look back at the original trailer for
