Bill Rebane; that Wisconsin bred mother fucker of a regional schlock-meister… I love him, and I wager after you park your ass in front of this rich motherload of drive-in awesome-fuckery flyin’ your way from Arrow Video (along with MVD Entertainment) you will too! Kicking off the collection is 1965’s cobbled together mess-terpiece, Monster a Go-Go: A space capsule (pronounced here as cap-soool, which was too much for me) tumbles back to Earth and the astronaut inside goes missing. Coincidentally, a ten foot tall, radiation scarred mutant begins wandering about, just waiting to put the gruesome murder biz upon anyone that stands in his way of… well, wandering around killing people mostly… In a flash of cinematic Frankenstein frenzy, the Godfather of Gore himself; Herschell Gordon Lewis acquired the footage to an unfinished Rebane picture from 1961, added some new footage and narration (provided by H.G. Lewis himself), and released the jarring results to horror hounds everywhere back in ’65!

Jet-setting, gold diggin’ beauty Elisa (Carmen Sevilla delivering the sexy in spades) peeps her neighbor Miguel (Vincente Parra), chucking his dead wife, Nuria (María Asquerino) down an elevator shaft… but it’s a double-peep back-fire as Miguel sees her seeing him and forces her to help him thus making her an accomplice and more likely to keep her flappin’ yapper closed, ya see? As you may not expect, Elisa digs on this action and goes balls deep in helping Miguel keep that lil’ indiscretion on the down low… until she doesn’t and tries to kill him… and then things go completely sideways. Spanish giallo (sort of) ensues! Coming hot on the heels of the previous year’s Cannibal Man (which I set my eerie eyeballs right here), but predating perhaps his most well-known work; the juvenile delinquent pictures he dove head first into in the early ‘80s (and which I covered right here), Eloy de la Iglesia’s No One Heard the Scream

Eloy de la Iglesia… now there is a mother fucker that wasn’t afraid to bring the seedy side of life to the silver screen (check out my review of his classic home invasion shocker Cannibal Man right here to bear witness to this) and Quinqui; a three-movie collection of his work, will only drive that point further home… not unlike a hypodermic needle straight to the ol’ hairy beanbag! Comprised of a trio of juvenile delinquent crime thrillers, Navajeros, El Pico & El Pico 2 to put a name to ‘em, these flicks are gritty, street-level, feel bad flicks through and through! Navajeros (1980) concerns José Manuel Gomez Perales or “El Jaro” ( José Luis Manzano) as he’s known among friends; a fifteen year-old criminal with a record a mile and a fuckin’ half long. Thankfully he spends most of his free time practicing the wholesome art of stealing purses with his rough n’ tumble pals. At night, El Jaro

A giant samurai statue goes a-rompin’ and a-stompin’ in The Daimajin Trilogy, a new box-set release covering Daiei’s classic kaiju creation courtesy of the sexy devils over at Arrow Video (along with MVD Entertainment)! First up comes 1966’s Daimajin: In medieval Japan, peasants cower in fear as the Earth trembles. These rustic folk believe that this is the result of a giant imprisoned within a nearby mountain attempting to make a jailbreak somewhere in this town (they are right btw)… As that is going on, the samurai lord of the village falls victim to samurai treachery, which causes his children to flee deep into the wicked woods that surround the village. They soon find themselves at the shrine of that aforementioned giant, the god Daimajin (played to perfection by Chikara “Riki” Hashimoto who would essay the role for the entire series); a huge-ass solid stone samurai that proves that in this particular village a hard man is indeed good to

With a film involving Satan that begins with child characters, you just know you’re going to be getting one of them sing-song, “la la la” type of main theme, and boy howdy The Brotherhood of Satan does not disappoint there… there’s also footage of a car being crushed by a tank while unholy screams ring out, so there’s that bit that is also not disappointing. Following that, Ben (Charles Bateman), his girlfriend Nicky (Ahna Capri), and Ben’s young daughter K.T. (future Brady Bunch Hour alum Geri Reischl) resume their cross country vacay after being caught in one of those realistic movie downpours where the rain goes in multiple directions at once… but that once again grinds to a halt when they discover the aftermath of a grizzly car “accident” and are forced to seek the assistance of the local sheriff (L.Q. Jones and his amazing hair), who already has his hands full dealing with the half-crazed inhabitants of Hillsboro who’s

Among a backdrop of civil unrest and labor disputes, downtown Halifax becomes a warzone. At a local gay bar, a group of homophobic rioters crash the scene smacking their hands with the tools they carry in a scene that has absolutely zero symbolism whatsoever. Anyway, those assholes, along with their absolutely psychotic ringleader, the oft-mentioned Cabe (a chilling performance from Doug Lennox), take out everyone in the bar execution-style (seriously, Siege holds not a fucking thing back… this is hardcore shit) after they witness an “accidental” death at the mob’s hands. Thankfully one dude beats feet outta there and hides out in the apartment of Horatio (Tom Nardini), a social worker for blind kids with super-human hearing (never even discussed, they just can hear beyond the abilities of mortal man). Now, Horatio is keen on protecting the weak, so when that villainous scum comes a callin’ for their prey he enlists the help of Chester (Daryl Haney), his greaser-punk weapons

Picture it; the Philippines, 1945… a Japanese platoon, with voices so outlandishly dubbed that they border on the insane (everyone in this film suffers the same fate), are waylaid by an indigenous tribe that really isn’t into the idea of someone fucking around on their land… and by “waylaid” I mean “absolutely slaughtered via gore drenched violence” (this shit even features samurai swords versus primitive knives… it’s fucking cool as shit… ). Some Thirty-odd years later, fortune hunter Rex Larson (Edmund Purdom) is hot on the trail of the gold those aforementioned soldiers hid before they met their drizzly demise, but he finds most of the remaining soldiers a little uncooperative (one of them commits hari-kari in an absurdly over-the-top manner accompanied by a gong strike… you can’t even make this shit up cats n’ creeps… ). Soon Rex is joined by a rag-tag team of misfits who’s ranks include TV mainstay/Murder She Wrote regular Stuart Whitman, Spartacus‘ Woody Strode

Michio (Eiji Funakoshi) is your typical artist; he lives with his mother, is blind, and lives in a bizarre studio filled with a surreal tableau containing titanic sculptures devoted to the senses… and tits n’ ass… lord the gigantic tits n’ ass that studio-space contains… He’s also not above kidnapping a mother fucker outright if kids thinks she’s hot… That is exactly what he does to beautiful model Aki (Mako Midori), who is naturally really not that into it… and promptly attempts to escape, which you’d think would be easy given that her captor, I don’t know… can’t fucking see her and all… but, alas she fails… more than once… Before you can say Stockholm syndrome, Aki begins to really dig on the sadomasochistic shenanigans ol’ Michio is laying down… so much so that she begins to take things even further. Fondling of statue ass ensues. Comprised of a darkly sexual tone (while not being overly graphic… for the most

Main-man Marcos (Vincente Parra) is an aimless, loner of a slaughterhouse employee spends what there is of his existence dreaming of a better life. Well at least he has his best gal Paula (Emma Cohen). Speaking of ol’ P-dawg, her and Marcos go at it hot n’ heavy in the back of a taxi after a date, which really infuriates the driver to no fuckin’ end… so much so that Marcos ends up killing the dude outright! As is the way, Paula knows too much, so her ass has to go… and we are off to the races as Marcos just can’t stop killing to cover his tracks… which seems a bit like the snake eatin’ it’s own tail, but who can figure out the mind of a complete psycho on a murder binge… I gotta be upfront with you lot, Cannibal Man is one of the biggest loads of bullshit to ever be printed on a movie poster… Marcos

Blind crossword puzzle author (is that what people who create those things are even called???) Franco (Karl Malden, proving he walked the streets of Rome before those of San Francisco) is taking a stroll one night with his young niece Lori (Cinzia De Carolis) when he overhears a plan to blackmail a scientist who works at a top secret genetic institute…well, not too top secret if they are blabbing about it right out in the damn street and all…oh, and there’s a robbery in there somewhere as well. Anyway Franco eventually teams up with a journalist by the name of Carlo (everyone’s favorite ‘not-quite-Charlton Heston’ James Franciscus) to solve the case, but there ends up being a metric shit-ton of the ol’ murder biz about, so these two dudes are most likely in way over their heads… Admittedly, I’ve never been the biggest fan of the giallo genre; they’ve always played out more like a typical murder mystery with a
