Washington’s North Bend Film Festival is back, and it is serving up a hybrid in-person and virtual version this July. Horror fans should look into titles such as We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, The Blazing World (reviewed here), Tailgate, and Cryptozoo. Following is the official press announcement. The North Bend Film Festival returns this summer with a hybrid festival taking place July 15-18, 2021. The in-person portion of the fest returns audience members to the historic art deco North Bend Theatre for a curated offering of feature film and short screenings, while both the virtual and physical programs will be complemented by special events, conversations with filmmakers, and immersive experiences. The majority of titles will be exclusive either to physical or virtual programs, with only a few overlaps making for a unique festival experience however you choose to attend. Film festivals around the world have had to make the difficult choice of either canceling or experimenting with digital versions this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. With several fests finding success and in some cases wider audiences with online formats, the trend is growing stronger. Now five highly regarded U.S. horror and genre film themed festivals are joining together to create NIGHTSTREAM with an online launch planned for October. Following is the official press release. The North Bend Film Festival is right around the corner and the full line-up for their inaugural edition, including Cinema Vista and Something Strange feature and short film programs, has just been announced. In addition to the films, the weekend of August 23rd to the 26th will be rich with events that embrace the town of North Bend, once the original shooting location for David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, such as a special Twin Peaks Tour, a scenic mountainside hike (offering attendees a rare chance for excursion!), and ‘Damn Fine Coffee’ mixers to kick off the mornings just right. Cinema Vista offers a spectrum of vanguard cinema with centerpiece screening SHIRKERS (presented by The Stranger) and retro screening of the iconic Pacific Northwest queer feature MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO (presented with Seattle-based Three Dollar Bill Cinema).
