Writer-director Nicole Groton‘s female-driven horror thriller Darkness in Tenement 45 about a biological threat that causes people to seek isolation, a topic very poignant these days, is set to arrive this November. The award-winning film is set in the 1950s centers on “Joanna (Nicole Tompkins) who has been living with her overbearing Aunt Martha, in a low-income NYC tenement building ever since a violent outburst left her fighting a force that she can only describe as the “darkness.” Little did she know that weeks after moving in, a biological threat from the Soviet Union would leave the building boarded up and the tenants locked inside. With food dwindling and Martha’s controversial role as leader expanding, Joanna rallies the children in an attempt to save the building. Tensions come to a violent head when Martha delves into Joanna’s past and Joanna struggles to keep the darkness from overtaking her entirely.” Nicole Tompkins, David Labiosa, Melissa Macedo, Casey Kramer, Keyon Bowman, and

‘Antebellum’ Won’t Premiere In August After All

Just as Lionsgate’s Antebellum was nearing it’s August the 21st premiere date, the film has been delayed again, this time with no premiere date in sight. In fact, it has been removed for the schedule altogether. The question is, was the film removed due to the pandemic or because of the subject matter as tensions continue to rise surrounding the Black Lives Matters movement. This is the second time the film has been rescheduled already, it was originally set to open in theaters this Spring. Antebellum, written and directed by Gerard Bush and Christoper Renz (Bush+Renz), takes us on the nail-biting journey of successful author Veronica Henley (Janelle Monáe) as she finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality as she finds her self enslaved. To return home, she must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late. Kiersey Clemons, Jena Malone, Jack Huston, Eric Lange, Gabourey Sidibe, and Robert Aramayo also star. Bush and Renz are producing alongside McKittrick, Zev

Movie Review: Corona Zombies (2020)

Barbie (Cody Renee Cameron) arrives home to discover the world is in the grip of a corona virus outbreak via the nightly news. Unlike the corona based fun n’ games we are currently balls deep in as of the time of this writing, this particular stain turns it’s victims into diseased zombies that terrorize the land with their battlecry: “Corona!” Oh and this sinister sickness originated from Scambell’s soup factory and their bat soup… subtle this mother fucker is definitely not. Meanwhile a paramilitary unit engages the corona zombies in the wild courtesy of footage lifted from Bruno Mattei’s 1980 Italian gut-muncher Hell of the Living Dead (footage from Zombies Vs. Strippers and the actual news is utilized as well). The rest of the film is packed to the revoltin’ rafters with juvenile humor, amazingly un-politically correct nonsense, up-to-the-minute plot points (not the zombies you dumb-ass ass-dumbs… rather it’s the quarantine, precautions we must take, and news footage displayed that

DVD Review: Infection (2019)

Dr. Adam Vargas (Rubén Guevara) and his neighbor Johnny (Leonidas Urbina) thought shit would be peaceful as fuck in their small town… but a fast spreading virus is coming their way pronto from the strife-torn urban jungles of Venezuela (not to date this review, but this is some timely-ass shit as I write these wicked words). Anyway, said virus turns people into flesh hungry pseudo-zombies (think those featured in Lenzi’s 1980 classic Nightmare City or it’s highly derivative, more well-known kissin’ cousin; Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later) and wouldn’t you know it; our heroes find themselves balls deep in Zombietown as they set off across on a fright filled journey to retrieve Vargas’ son from his grandmother’s house! So, as you can imagine, Infection drops us into some very familiar terror territory; we get our (kinda) zombie apocalypse, a small group that tries to survive the hungry hordes… hell, we even get pointed social commentary ala George A. Romero’s walking
