Fox Has Closed ‘The X-Files’

Fox has been cleaning house, canceling shows like The Exorcist and Lucifer, just to name a few. Today, another series got the ax. We all wanted to “believe” that “The X-Files” would be back for good, enough for at least a little while, but that just isn’t the case. Fox is closing down “The X-Files”, at least for now, network CEO and co-chair Gary Newman revealed today during a conference call with reporters. The news comes only two months after the eleventh season’s finale, which star Gillian Anderson stated would be her last. Following the finale, the series’ creator Chris Carter told TV Line, “I can’t imagine there wouldn’t be more X-Files, in some shape or form. I think there are lots more stories to tell and ways to tell them. I’m leaving this as a giant cliffhanger, and Gillian has announced that sh’s not coming back. Hard-core X-Files fans know there have been no real endings on the show.”

Gillian Anderson Walking Away From Two Roles

Gillian Anderson confirmed rumors Wednesday during the Television Critics’ Association winter press tour that she is walking away from her long celebrated role as Agent Scully on ‘The X-files’. It’s time for me to hang up Scully’s hat. It just is,” she told reporters Wednesday, The Hollywood Reporter reports. “I’m finished and that’s the end of that. I arrived at the decision before we did the previous six, but I was really curious. I felt that the previous six was going to be it. It was dipping our toe back in again … and getting to play these wonderful characters again. I think as [series creator] Chris [Carter] has said himself that short stack of episodes felt like we were learning how to walk again and that this season of 10 feels like the pace is up and we’re running. I wouldn’t necessarily have been happy if those six were how we said goodbye,” she added. “There’s lots of things

The shows will use a combination of animation, narration and live action re-enactments. Rest assured, the likelihood of this series being a flash in the pan is slim, due in large part to the amazing talent that is backing the production up. Executive producers include an
