We have some out of this world news, the premiere date for the eleventh season of ‘The X-Files’ has been set for this January.
The series will pick up just where season 10 left off. We will be getting more episodes, 10 in all to be exact. Fans will be excited to learn that 8 of those will be “monster-of-the-week” type episodes. We will also learn more about William, Mulder and Scully’s son that was put up for adoption in a bid to keep him safe. Season 11 will also explore the motives behind loyal ally Agent Reyes (Annabeth Gish) confessing that she’s working with the Cigarette Smoking Man. We’ll see a new angle on Mulder and Scully’s boss, Assistant Director Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) and “Familiar alliances are rattled.
What can we expect from the first three episodes? I’m glad you asked. “Episode one delves into the Cigarette Smoking Man’s (William B. Davis) backstory and apparent family ties to Mulder, the second hour opens with a time jump to put distance between Mulder and Scully and the events of the premiere. And episode three is a darkly comedic hour, penned by Chris Carter, focusing on doubles and doppelgängers. But beyond the humor, the larger mythology of The X-Files — like the fallout from Scully’s abduction and the chip that was implanted in her neck — continues to shape Mulder and Scully’s world.”
David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and Mitch Pileggi will reprise their roles and will be joined by William B. Davis, Annabeth Gish, Karin Konoval, Haley Joel Osment, Lauren Ambrose, Robbie Amell, and Barbara Hershey. The Lone Gunmen, played by Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, and Bruce Harwood, are said to be returning as well.
‘The X-Files’ returns on Fox on January 3, 2018.
