Horror Fuel Invades Days Of The Dead Atlanta 2017

I spent this past weekend (Feb 3- 5) at the Days of the Dead convention in Atlanta. This is the second DOTD I have attended in the past few years and once again, it did not disappoint. First, I would like to tell you about my favorite part of the convention. No, it’s not the parties, or the other events, it is the people. To say that horror fans are the best would be an understatement. You will not find a friendlier group of people. Stand by a booth, in a line, by an elevator, or outside smoking and in with seconds there is a conversation happening. It is nothing to be asked “How far did you traveled?”, “Are you having fun?”, “Did you see….?”. As for the celebs, every single celebrity I talked to was pleasant. Sink Your Teeth Into The Season 3 Trailer For El Rey’s From Dusk Till Dawn

The Gecko brothers will soon return in season 3 of El Rey’s From Dusk Till Dawn. This season the brothers will continue fighting their way through the vampire-snake hybrids known as Culebras, who have empires in Mexico and Texas. After making a run for the border to save their hides Seth (D.J. Cotrona) and Richie (Zane Holtz) met the vampire goddess Santanico (Eiza Gonzalez) and joined her quest to settle an old score. Together, they’ve recruited a crew for their mission. Cotrona, Holtz, Gonzalaz, Jesse Garcia, Madison Davenport, Emily Rios, Brandon Soo Hoo and Jake Busey will be returning for the new 10-episode season. Several big name cast members have joined the cast including Special Effects makeup mastermind and actor Tom Savini. He will be playing Burt, a pot-smoking/selling, retired demon hunter. Ana de la Reguera (Narcos), Marko Zaror (Machete Kills), Maurice Compte (Breaking Bad), and Nicky Whelan (The Wedding Ringer) will also play new characters. Sink your teeth into

Tom Savini Joins The Cast Of El Rey’s From Dusk Till Dawn Series

Legendary makeup artist and actor Tom Savini has worked on films such classics as Friday the 13th, Day of the Dead and many others. Out of all of his roles he is most well recognized as “Sex Machine” in 1996’s From Dusk Till Dawn. I mean, who could forget that crotch gun? Savini has now joined the cast of season 3 of Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn series, which airs on Rodriguez’s El Rey Network. The 10 episode season is currently filming in New Mexico. Savini will not be reprising his roles as Sex Machine, but will instead star as Burt, a retired demon hunter who makes a living selling Marijuana. The series stars D.J. Cotrona and Zane Holtz as the Gecko brothers, roles originally played in the feature film, which Rodriguez also directed, by George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino. Wilmer Valderrama, Jake Busy, Eiza Gonzalez, Danny Trejo, Jesse Garcia, Madison Davenport, Brandon Soo Hoo and Jeff Fahey co-star

Just Desserts: The Making Of Creepshow Documentary Coming To DVD & Blu-ray

A new full length documentary delves into the making of George A. Romero’s 1982 Creepshow, titled Just Desserts: The Making of Creepshow. The film heading to Blu-ray later this year with a horde of special features via Synapse Films in conjunction with Red Shirt Pictures. This past weekend Fangoria spoke with the documentary’s producer, Michael Felsher, at North Carolina’s Mad Monster Party Convention about the film, which he debuted at the convention. Just Desserts features interviews with Romero, makeup/creature FX genius Tom Savini, Producer Richard P. Rubinstein, and actors Adrienne Barbeau, Tom Atkins, Ed Harris and others. It also features on-set footage. Unfortunately Stephen King, who co-wrote Creepshow, will not be featured. The exact release date has not been announced at this time, but as soon as it is we will let you know. Here’s a clip from Just Desserts featuring Tom Savini and George A. Romero.

Friday the 13th Gets Lucky

A Few Words From Our Ms. Palmer “What a piece of shit! No one’s gonna see this crap!” — Actress Betsy Palmer aka Pamela Vorhees The late, esteemed critic, Roger Ebert, coined the phrase “Dead Teenager Movie” and I have stated several times that Jaws 2 arguably gets technical credit as the first one. While teenagers in peril was a long standing theme and used over and over again, it’s the sequel to Spielberg’s game changing shark movie that lined them up one after another for the monster to pick off. Jaws 2 gave the designer sheen to killing off teens. It wasn’t a grainy “B Movie” that played part of a double bill at the drive in. This was wide screen Panavision and a 50 million budget. While there was no nudity, the underlying “have sex and die” motif was there with a killer in the form a pissed off female Great White Shark. The original 1978 Halloween fine

One of the most recognized names in horror is that of the “Godfather of Gore”, Tom Savini. Mr. Savini has been involved with a long list of films over his four-decade career. That list includes Friday the 13th, Day of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead (1990), and those are just a few of the films he’s handled special effects on. Savini also happens to be an accomplished actor. He’s had roles in many films, such as Machete Kills, Django Unchained, and let’s not forget about his role as “Sex Machine” in From Dusk Till Dawn.
