One of the most recognized names in horror is that of the “Godfather of Gore”, Tom Savini. Mr. Savini has been involved with a long list of films over his four-decade career. That list includes Friday the 13th, Day of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead (1990), and those are just a few of the films he’s handled special effects on. Savini also happens to be an accomplished actor. He’s had roles in many films, such as Machete Kills, Django Unchained, and let’s not forget about his role as “Sex Machine” in From Dusk Till Dawn. As if special effects and acting weren’t enough, he’ll be directing the upcoming horror film Nightmare City. This man can do anything.

Savini is the focus of a new documentary titled Smoke and Mirrors: The Tom Savini Story. Smoke and Mirrors will delve into Savini’s history and examine his legendary career and life. The documentary will include interviews with George Romero, Greg Nicotero, and Tom Savini himself. Director Jason Baker has been working on the documentary for almost five years and the good news is it’s finally complete. In fact, Smoke and Mirrors premiered in October at Spain’s Sitges Film Festival and will soon be released to Savini’s horde of adoring fans on DVD and Blu-ray.

We should see Smoke and Mirrors: The Tom Savini Story released some time in 2016.
