Get ready to be terrified and entertained! USA Network has greenlit “Scare Tactics,” a reimagining of the classic hidden-camera prank show. The new series is from the visionary mind of Jordan Peele and his production company, Monkeypaw Productions.
This series takes the hidden camera concept to a whole new level, transforming unsuspecting individuals into the protagonists of their own horror films. With elaborate setups and mind-bending twists, “Scare Tactics” promises to deliver a heart-pounding blend of comedy and horror.
This heart-pounding show offers a cinematic approach to the hidden camera concept. Unwitting participants, set up by their friends and family, are put in hilariously twisted scenarios with fully immersive stories that blur the lines of reality, horror, and comedy. As they navigate one unreal scenario after another, audiences will laugh, jump, and want more. From the minds behind Get Out and Us, this series is set to redefine the prank genre.
“Reimagining ‘Scare Tactics’ with Jordan, Monkeypaw and UTAS has been a dream come true,” said executive producer Scott Hallock. “Fans have been asking us to bring ‘Scare Tactics’ back for years, and working with this team was an amazing opportunity. There’s no one better at horror and comedy than Jordan and Monkeypaw.”
“Scare Tactics” is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Monkeypaw Productions and WMTI Productions, Inc. Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld and Jamal Watson executive produce for Monkeypaw Productions. Scott Hallock, an executive producer for WMTI Productions, Inc., and Elan Gale, serves as executive producer and showrunner. WMTI Productions, Inc. owns the “Scare Tactics” format.
The original series, hosted by Tracy Morgan, first premiered in 2003 and ran for ten years. In each episode, victims are thrown into situations and pranks that feature everything from aliens to killers.
“Scare Tactics” premieres on the USA Network this fall from Peele, whose next movie, Him, is also in production. We’ll let you know as soon as the premiere date is announced.
