Think your childhood imaginary friend was creepy? Meet “Other Mommy.” It’s the ultimate nightmare for anyone who’s ever called out for mom in the dark and gotten the wrong answer.
The film comes from the combined nightmare factory of horror royalty James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring) and Blumhouse Atomic Monster. It’s under the sharp direction of breakout scare master Rob Savage (Host). Be sure to check out our interview with Savage about his previous film The Boogeyman.
Based on Josh Malerman’s (Bird Box) bestselling novel Incidents Around the House and adapted by Succession writer Nathan Elston, the film follows a young girl named Bela (Arabella Olivia Clark) who forms a bond with a sinister entity invading her home. The catch? The entity looks uncannily like her actual mother.

Academy Award® winner Jessica Chastain pulls double duty in a haunting dual role as both Bela’s genuine mother and the disturbing “Other Mommy.” At the same time, Jay Duplass plays her perpetually stressed father, “Daddo.”
Backed by an all-star supporting lineup that includes Dichen Lachman (Severance), Arian Moayed (Succession), and screen icon Karen Allen (Indiana Jones), Other Mommy promises to take the universal comfort of maternal love and twist it into something profoundly wrong.
Ahead of its release, a new trailer has surfaced, and it’s seriously unnerving. It sees a young girl playing in the bath with her mother, but when her birth mother walks into the room, she realizes that bath time has taken a sudden, horrifying turn.
