Blu-ray Review: The Theater Bizarre (2011)

Enola Penny (Virginia Newcomb) enters a ramshackle theater where a human-sized puppet (horror legend Udo Kier) offers up strange tales of… well strange-ass shit (all loosely fitting the gore-packed French theater tradition of Grand Guignol… shows comprised of short horror vignettes containing copious bloodshed and gore) in what serves as the framing segments of off-the-rails horror anthology The Theater Bizarre, one of the newest Blu-ray offerings from those delightful devils over at Severin! Kicking of this creepy collection of terror tales is Richard Stanley’s The Mother Of Toads, which concerns the misadventures of young travelers Martin (Shane Woodward) and Karina (Victoria Maurette) who, as fate would have it, encounter Mere Antoinette (Lucio Fulci regular Catriona MacColl)… a mystic jewelry seller who claims to have a copy of the fabled Necronomicon, which interests Martin to no fuckin’ end! Karina soon pisses off to the spa, leaving Martin to explore all of Antoinette’s wicked wonders… which results in a glimpse at the

Movie Review: Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich (2018)

Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, a re-imagining of the popular and ubiquitous Full Moon fright franchise of the halcyon days of video stores, begins with it’s version of series mainstay (and the eponymous puppet master) Andre Toulon (this time brought to life by genre legend Udo Kier)…a scarred French/German ex-pat who fled World War II Europe (when the allies defeated his Nazi pals) after committing countless atrocities with his magical menagerie of living killer puppets…atrocities he continues to engage in in late ’80’s rural Texas..living in a mausoleum peppered with iron rods that conduct arcane energy which he uses to control his creepy creations. Flash forward to Texas of the present day and recently divorced comic shop employee Edgar (Thomas Lennon) discovering one of Toulon’s puppets in a box of rando shit in his parent’s house (a hold over possession of his dead brother which he acquired at camp in his youth). Edgar decides to sell the puppet (series regular

Hitler Rides A T-Rex In The New Trailer For IRON SKY: THE COMING RACE

After a three-year wait, the trailer for Iron Sky: The Coming Race, the sequel to 2012’s Iron Sky, is here and it is a bit insane. The voice over in trailer is none other than genre icon Udo Kier (Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, The Lords of Salem, Borgia, Blade) who co-stars alongside Lara Rossi, Vladmir Burlakov, Kit Dale, Tom Green, Julia Dietze, Martin Swabey, John Flanders, and Kari Ketonen. The film, which picks up 20 years after the original, was directed by Timo Vuorensola, and was penned by Dalan Musson and Jarmo Puskala. In The Coming Race, Nazis plan to take over the world after lying dormant in a secret military base on the moon. Did I mention that in the trailer Hitler rides a T-Rex? Because he does and it’s pretty impressive. Iron Sky: The Coming Race opens in select theaters on February 14, 2018.
