DVD Review: Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo! (2020)

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own. Scooby (Frank Welker) and the gang, Fred (also voiced by Welker), Daphne (Grey Griffin), Velma (Kate Micucci), and Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) are up to their arcane armpits in preternatural peril when ye olde friendly neighborhood pumpkin patch is covered in toxic waste (accompanied by a cue that definitely brings to mind 1985’s Return of the Living Dead) which results in the pumpkins coming to life and they have the horror biz foremost on their monstrous minds! Seems like a solid Scooby-Doo scenario… how about if I told you that Elvira (the legendary Cassandra Peterson herself, ‘natch) shows up, as does Bill Nye the Science Guy (himself, though amped-up to 11)… and the Scarecrow (The A-Team‘s world famous Howlin’ Mad Murdock, Dwight Shultz)… like from Batman… yeah, what the what now?!! With it’s faster pace

Goretastic Horror-Comedy ‘Snatchers’ Now Out On Blu-Ray

Snatchers which we called “a goretastic horror-comedy that you need to see,” in our five-star review, has just been unleashed on Blu-ray™ and DVD. Aliens meets Mean Girls in this delightfully deranged film about a status-obsessed high school teenager who loses her virginity and finds herself pregnant the next day…with an alien! Senior year is going to rule! Thanks to her relationship with clueless hunk Skyler, Sara is totally in with the cool girls. But Skyler contracted an extraterrestrial bug during his summer vacation. After just one night together, Sara discovers she’s Nine. Months. Pregnant. Desperate to keep her condition on the DL, she turns to the only person she can trust: her nerdy ex-bestie, Hayley. The girls soon realize this alien problem is only just the beginning. Aliens had best beware in this hilarious comedy filled with action and tongue-in-cheek teen spirit. Snatchers stars Mary Nepi (Not Cool) as Sara, Gabrielle Elyse (Nickelodeon’s “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn,” “The

Blu-ray Review: Krypton: The Complete Second Season (2019)

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own. When I heard that a Superman based TV series was being produced that wouldn’t focus on ol’ Kal-El I was a bit perplexed (to be fair, that’s my normal state), but the end result was pretty damn fantastic (and you can read my thoughts on the matter right here). Well as fate and ratings would demand, our pals at SyFy gave us a second season of Krypton, and I’m fixin’ to slap my eyeballs on it post-haste! Season two drops the ol’ city of Kandor well and truly into the soup! Zod still has Big K in his iron grip of insanity, and he’s got a wild hair up his alien ass about conquering the entire universe in order to ensure a rebuilt Krypton’s security… a Krypton rebuilt to his exact specifications mind you!

DVD Review: Scooby-Doo: Return to Zombie Island (2019)

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share on my Own. When Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island hit in 1998 it was like breathe of fresh air in the fearsome franchise; the monsters were real, the tone was darker than before, and the story featuring a disbanded Mystery Inc. (comprised of Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Shaggy Rogers, Velma Dinkley, and that lovable mutt Scooby-Doo) coming back together for one last hurrah and falling afoul of the undead and werecats on Moonscar Island was cool AF. So how will the sequel; Scooby-Doo: Return to Zombie Island measure up? Let’s begin with the ol’ sinister synopsis, shall we? As before, our teenage sleuths and their dog have cooled their jets and have managed to stay out of terror trouble for a damn sight (like at least a few months or more). Of course that is short lived as

Blu-ray Review: Krypton: The Complete First Season (2018)

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own. Hearing that a Krypton based TV joint was being produced that wouldn’t focus on ol’ Superman made me as nervous as a cat nervous about shit that makes cats nervous (Disclaimer: I’m not a cat). Let’s see if that case of jitters was justified… Krypton concerns the adventures of Supes’ grand-pappy Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) who resides in the Kryptonian city of Kandor 200 years before the planet is fated to explode…and let me tell ya; Seg’s having a time of it. The House of El is on the shit list after Seg’s grandfather got the ax for suggesting that their is life on planets other than Krypton, and our homeboy is caught up in the plottings of shifty chief magistrate, Daron-Vex (Elliot Cowan), who’s daughter Nyssa Vex (Wallis Day) Seg is set to marry

‘The Conjuring’ Franchise Hit With An Almost Billion Dollar Lawsuit

While the new Conjuring universe may be continuing to expand, Warner Bros. may be in hot water. They have been hit with a massive lawsuit. In 1980, Gerald Brittle penned ‘The Demonologist’ for Ed and Lorraine Warren. Part of the deal between Brittle and the Warrens was that any future films that featured the events in the book had to have his approval before being made. In 2013 Warner Bros. and New Line released The Conjuring that went on to be a massive hit. The follow up centered on the Enfield Poltergeist, both stories were part of the book deal. The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 has gone on to spawn 3 spin-offs, Annabelle, The Nun, and The Crookedman, and 2 more sequels, Annabelle: Creation and The Conjuring 3 which is now in the works. You would think that everyone involved is raking in the money, but you would be wrong. Somehow, Brittle was forgotten about. Now, he is taking

Gizmo May Be In Danger In The Completed Script For ‘Gremlins 3’

Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) has finished his script for Gremlins 3. Everything indicates we will witness a much darker tale than with the first two films. There is even a rumor that Gizmo is in danger and might be killed in order to protect the human race from the Gremlins the adorable creature can spawn. Columbus himself has said that the script is “as twisted and dark as anything”. He has stated that he “wanted to go back to the really twisted sensibility of the first movie.” I’m really proud of the script. It is as twisted and dark as anything, so we’ll see. It’s always a budgetary conversation when we’re going to shoot it. I wanted to go back to the really twisted sensibility of the first movie. I found that was a very easy place for me to fall back into and start writing again, so hopefully we’ll see that movie soon.” Don’t worry
