Dead Days Season One Episode Two by Ryan Casey

(Pardon the author picture. The only cover image I could find for Episode Two was tiny!) Back in January I reviewed Ryan Casey’s best selling Dead Days Season One, Episode One. He was kind enough to send me a copy of the Dead Days Complete Season One Collection (Books 1-6) that is currently available on Amazon (and a myriad of other retailers) to check out and review. So far I have only gotten through Season One Episode Two, but what a ride! Scene Description: 5/5 I may have said it before, but I’ll say it again. I love Casey’s writing style. The level of detail put into each and every scene really drives whatever emotion or action is featured home. There are truly devastating scenes in Dead Days S1E2, just as there are thrilling action sequences. Although the description is often gory (as zombie fiction tends to mandate…), it is still eloquent and very beautiful. My favorite comparison comes from

‘Night Of The Living Dead : Rebirth’ Is Coming To Get You…

Writer/director Roger Conners’ has been quietly making a reboot of George A. Romero’s ‘Night of the Living Dead. In fact, the movie is already half through filming and he plans to wrap up in May. Conners is aiming to make the modern version of the 1968 zombie movie. Conners is making some big changes to the original Romero script, including changing the sex of some characters and even the sexual orientation of others, for instance in ‘Rebirth’ Barbra is a man. This indie zombie movie stars Aswan Harris, Rachel Anderson, Alvin Hudson, Bradley Arner, RJ Messenger and Taylor Nelms. I have a feeling this movie won’t be received well by a lot of the fans of Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, but who knows, it may bring a new group of horror fans into the zombie genre. ‘Wasted’ The Series Has Entered The Cine Coup Challange

“When you have no work, no responsibilities and no rules during a zombie apocalypse, you have some fun! That is what happens to a group of friends who embark on the adventure of a lifetime!” “Despite their friend Mark’s countless warnings, a zombie outbreak does happen. Now this group of deadbeats come alive as they use their knowledge of all things from video games, the internet, and zombie films, starring their favorite action hero, Lovina, to survive in this new world,” “‘Wasted’ has entered the ‘Cine Coup 2015 Challenge’. The competition gives filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their films and compete for a chance to win one million dollars to make a full feature film. The challenge has made movies like 2014’s horror-comedy ‘Wolfcop’ possible.” Retro Grave Productions believe that ‘Wasted’ has a new twist on the zombie genre and want a chance to prove themselves. They want to make a full length film and to do that they need

American Revenant: Settlers and Sorrow

American Revenant: Settlers and Sorrow by author John L. Davis IV is the second book in the American Revenant series. If somehow you’ve missed my review of the first book, American Revenant: Hometown Exodus then you need desperately to catch up so that you can read this recently released work of zombie fiction. Synopsis: The story that began in the novella American Revenant: Hometown Exodus continues in this new full length novel! Rejoin Gordon, Mike, Jimmy, and the rest of the group as they fight for survival. Forced to flee their hometown with friends and family, they must find someplace safe, both from their fellow man, and the ravenous dead. Could you Survive? Entertainment: 5/5 This measure was surprisingly difficult to evaluate and put a fixed value on. The reason for this is that American Revenant: Settlers and Sorrow alternates frequently between being a somewhat sluggish account of the daily life of modern-day settlers who are trying to establish a

The Infected: Jim’s First Day by Joseph Zuko

Review: The Infected: Jim’s First Day by Joseph ‘Zombie’ Zuko On a day like any other, Jim Blackmore finds himself at ground zero of the zombie apocalypse. He is forced to run a blood-soaked gauntlet through a city overrun by an insurmountable horde of the dead in a desperate attempt to reach his wife and two small children. As he fights to get home he discovers that the living are just as dangerous as the dead. But does Jim have the strength of will to survive the perilous journey? After reading over two dozen zombie books, comics, and short stories for you lovely readers of Zombie Apocalypse Defense Force and for my own amusement, I’ve begun to get a solid feel for whether or not the author of any given zombie book has been a long time zombie fan or if they have simply jumped on the bandwagon to sneak a taste of a popular horror niche’s appeal. (I have

My Review of Lust of The Dead (Yeah, it’s exactly what you think it is)

Hello fellow zombie apocalypse survivor wannabes, this is my first time providing content for the ZADF. I was recently contacted by a friend and asked if I would like to do the occasional review of foreign horror films for this site. Since the only thing I like better than sharing my opinion, is sharing my opinion over the internet (significantly less face-punching this way). I readily agreed. Only one problem. What would I review? You see, for my first outing I wasn’t assigned a specific film. It was left up to me to choose one. Being that the site is called Zombie Apocalypse Defense Force, I decided that my first review should definitely be a zombie movie. So, I started browsing Netflix for a selection. Oddly enough, Netflix had a recommendation all lined up for me. Due to my past viewing preferences, it seemed to think I would enjoy a Japanese “horror” film called Lust of The Dead. Apparently, if

Author Interview: John L. Davis of American Revenant Series

I’m doing something a bit different this week. Rather than posting a book review, I’m sharing an interview I had the opportunity to do for Gores Truly with author John L. Davis of the American Revenant series. He agreed to chat with me regarding the American Revenant series, and offered to give us some insight into himself, his process, and what we can expect from this shining new author in the future. If you are unfamiliar with Davis’ work, you can find a review of his debut novel American Revenant: Hometown Exodus. The series is set in Hannibal, MO and features a community of people who band together to survive a zombie apocalypse. It is honestly one of the best zombie series’ I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a long time, and I would encourage you to check it out if you haven’t. American Revenant: Hometown Exodus and American Revenant: Settlers and Sorrow are both available for Kindle download.

“Women in Horror Spotlight”: Kathryn Bigelow

Odds are that if you are familiar with director/producer/writer Kathryn Bigelow it will be for her Drama/Thriller pieces like K-19: The Widowmaker (2002) starring Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson, or for her outstanding work on The Hurt Locker (2008) for which she was the first woman to win an Academy Award for Best Director, she won the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing, she won the BAFTA Award for Best Direction, and she also earned the Critics Choice Award for Best Director. (This is on top of the awards that the film won on its own.) She is also the directorial force behind the recent blockbuster, Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The reason why Bigelow has earned a nod here is due to a western horror film she wrote and directed in 1987 towards the beginning of her career. The film was called New Dark and was about a small town farmer’s son who is turned into a vampire

Benton: A Zombie Novel Vol. One

Aside: In honor of Women in Horror Month I will be reviewing a book or comic written by female authors or which prominently featuring female characters for each Monday in the month of February. There are plenty! This spotlight for female writers/characters in books and comics will be in addition to each of the Women in Horror Spotlights we are doing here at ZADF each day in February. (…and of course, this is also in addition to the sheer awesome Capt. McNeely and I contribute to the horror genre on a daily and weekly basis both on ZADF and beyond! ; ) ) At the bottom of each book review I will have links to the books discussed in previous weeks so that you can see who else has been featured! This will be the last special “Women In Horror” month female author feature. Thanks everyone who submitted book recommendations! The good news is that even without a special month
