Flesh Without Soul by Pochassic

Flesh Without Soul is the debut novel of author Pochassic. The book is different than many of the books I’ve reviewed here on ZADF because unlike many in our beloved sub-genre of zombie fiction, this novel is complete. It doesn’t attempt to jump start a series, it’s a stand alone story which is incredibly unique. Book Description: What would you do to save the world? Eliminate racism? End Religious intolerance? Or simply destroy evil all together? Michael Kerr, a recent drop out from his PHD program in bioengineering, is sure he can save the world. It’s a simple plan. Kill everyone on the planet who doesn’t believe in God. Problem is Michael’s unfaltering belief that he is the one and only true God. Now that his plan to cleanse the world has been unleashed all he needs to do is tie up a few loose ends. First save his sister Kara, who runs a small pizza joint in town, and

Lost World by Kate L. Mary

Lost World by Kate L. Mary is the fourth book in the Broken World series. Aside from Ryan Casey’s Dead Days, this is the only zombie series I have been eager to continue reading. I am still working my way through Casey’s first season of Dead Days, but something about Mary’s Broken World series keeps reeling me back in each time I get an ARC from her! Description: Lost World, the fourth book in the Broken World series, continues following a group of survivors after a super-virus has destroyed the world and the dead have come back to claim it as their own… With their shelter destroyed and their sense of security shattered, Vivian, Axl and the group set off in search of a safe place. But the group’s morale is at an all-time low, and they now know it’s not just the dead they have to fear. Weeks of wandering brings sickness, death and loss to the survivors, and

Every Zombie Eats Somebody Sometime: A Book of Zombie Love Songs

This week I’m changing it up for the zombie comic or book review and am featuring a comedic parody book. Every Zombie Eats Somebody Sometime: A Book of Zombie Love Songs by Michael P. Spradlin and Illustrated by Jeff Weigel is an incredibly entertaining read and was a nice break from the depressing tales of the zombie-ridden wastelands that typically grace the would be shelves of ZADF. The premise of the book, according to the Author’s note, is that even zombies need love songs… Or rather, those left when the zombies strike, do. (If you’ve been watching the CW’s new series iZombie based on the comic of the same name, that would certainly seem to be true.) The basic idea is that sometime in your past with the love of your life (who is in all likelihood about to turn into zombie chow), you shared a favorite love song. This book is filled with zombie themed parodies to remind you

Odium by Claire C. Riley

Odium (Dead Saga Book 1) by Claire C. Riley is a book I’ve had on my ‘to read’ radar for a while. I was intrigued by the idea that Riley polled Facebook users in order to use them in her book. As far as indie authors go, especially those who write zombies or horror fiction, she had a decent pool to choose from with over 3,000 Facebook fans at her disposal. (A feat for small scale publishing, to be sure.) Her website claims that she intends to bring a modern spin to classic horror. The site also named Romero as one of her influences, so I was optimistic to say the least. Description: It’s better to die by the gun than die by the dead. Nina’s life was irrevocably changed when humanity’s dead began to rise. Now, she lives behind the walls. The barricaded cities, erected by the government to protect the remnants of civilization, have become a brutal dictatorship-

‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ Finally Has A Release Date!

We have been waiting for the latest sequel to the ‘Resident Evil’ franchise for a while now. The movie was set to be filmed in 2014, but was delayed due Milla Jovonovich’s pregnancy. Earlier this year Jovonvich reported that, after delivering a healthy baby, she was ready to get filming under way. I’m happy to report that the ‘Final Chapter’ is coming and many of the cast members from previous ‘Resident Evil’ movies have signed on to return. ‘The Final Chapter’ will star Jovonovich as the bad ass main character she’s played since movie one, Alice.Sienna Guillroy will be returning to play Jill Valentine, a U.S. Special Forces soldier. Valentine’s character is the partner of Chris Redfield, another Special Forces soldier who is rumored to be played by ‘Prison Break’ actor Wentworth Miller. The word is Spencer Locke will also be returning along side her fellow ‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’ alumni Shawn Roberts. ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’s’ Bingbing Li and Johann Urb

Planet Urth (Book 1) by Jennifer & Christopher Martrucci

Planet Urth (Book 1) by Jennifer & Christopher Martucci is different than the majority of the zombie fiction I have reviewed on Zombie Apocalypse Defense Force because it isn’t actually intended to be zombie fiction, but it still is a very interesting, relevant read for zombie fans. The world has changed. It’s dangerous, deadly. Inhuman creatures rule the planet. Animals have mutated. The land is hostile. But it’s all I’ve ever known. Hunger. Fear. Panic. Those emotions are my reality. They are my every day. I am Avery, and I am seventeen. My father died a year ago. Since then I’ve been responsible for my eight-year-old sister, June. I worry we are the only humans left. Humans have been hunted for centuries, to the brink of extinction. I must fight each day to protect my sister. It is the reason I wake, the reason I breathe. But how long can I go on fighting? How long will it be before

Movie Review : ‘The Dead 2 : India’

In the 2010 zombie film ‘The Dead’ a zombie plague spreads through Africa like wildfire. Now the Ford Brothers are back with the 2014 sequel ‘The Dead 2: India’. Nicholas, an American engineer working in India is in love with a young Indian woman, who is pregnant. When people begin attacking each other in the streets Nicholas abandons his post to make the journey to the slums of Mumbi, to rescue his girlfriend Ishani (Meenu Mishra) . On the way he rescues Javed, a young orphaned boy, and together they set out to make the dangerous trip to the heart of the outbreak. ‘The Dead 2 ‘ goes beyond the average zombie movie, though they never say the word ‘zombie’ at any point. What it lacks in special FX it more than makes up for it with the story. The zombies are secondary characters in this movie, instead it focuses on the story between the uninfected. It’s common in many

‘Pride And Prejudice And Zombies’ Has A Release Date

Seth Grahame-Smith’s ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ is a revamped version of Jane Austin’s classic novel, that was first published in 1813. The new version was written as if Smith and Austin teemed up for the novel’s creation. The book, released in 2009, quickly had it’s own cult following. Due to it’s popularity and zombie loving fans, it is being made into a movie. Fans were disappointed when plans for the movie fell apart the first go around, but it seems this time the movie will actually be completed. Director Burr Steers, who also directed ‘How To Loose A Guy In 10 Days’, will be directing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which has already gone into production. They originally set the release date to be January 1, 2015, but due to delays, the date has been pushed back to February 19, 2016. “This mash-up begins with the tangled relationships between lovers from different classes in 19 century England and is
