Forty five years after George A. Romero released his zombie masterpiece ‘Night Of The Living Dead’ George’s son Cameron is trying to live up to his father’s legacy by making a zombie movie of his own.
Cameron is in the process of making the prequel to his father’s classic ‘Night Of The Living Dead’. As of now the movie is titled ‘Origins’.
The prequel is being produced by Radar Pictures. ‘Origins’ is to begin filming this year. Cameron Romero will direct the movie that he wrote along with Bryce C. Campbell and Darrin Reed. Robert Kurtzman, special effects wizard, is set to do the makeup for the movie. Romero is running an Indiegogo campaign to raise most of the money for the film. So far he has already raised over $30,000. Neither a release date nor a cast list has been announced .
“Set in the turbulent late sixties, the film tells the story of a brilliant scientist, Dr. Alan Cartwright, who strikes a deal with the military that will give him all the resources he needs to finalize his work for what he later learns is a price all mankind will have to pay.”
Cameron Romero is already an experienced writer, director and producer. He already has over 100 commercials and eight films under his belt. His movies include ‘Kill Box’ (2015), ‘Auteur’ (2014), ‘Radical’ (2011) starring Tom Sizemore, ‘Repressed’ (2011), ‘The Auctioneers’ (2010), Staunton Hill (2009) and ‘The Screening’ (2007). Romero also has four other films that will release in 2015/2016.
I think we can expect great things from Cameron Romero in the future. As for the ‘Origins’ the prequel to ‘Night Of The Living Dead’ I am curious to how it will do. Personally, I’m curious to find out how it all began.
As more information surfaces we will give updates on ‘Origins’.
