For a while we’ve been referring to the spin-off by it’s working title ‘Cobalt’, now Robert Kirkman has confirmed that ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ is indeed the show’s title.

It has now been announced that we will see the trailer for ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ during this Sunday’s season five finale, as if we needed another to plant ourselves in front of the TV Sunday.

The good news is, the new series will not be connected to ‘The Walking Dead’ graphic novels. There won’t be any debates on “well this character did this in the comics”, which is a constant issue with ‘The Walking Dead’. Eventually “Fear” will meet the same time line as ‘The Walking Dead’, but that won’t be for many seasons. The show will be told from just before the start of the zombie apocalypse through multiple perspectives, from the view of men, women, the old and the young and will take place in L.A.

Some of the cast have already been announced. Cliff Curtis (Training Day) will play the lead role.  Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), Kim Dickens (Gone Girl) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into The Storm) also star in the series.

The show has also added a new co-writer to work along side Robert Kirkman, Dave Erickson. Erickson has been writing for the FX series Sons Of Anarchy, which has ended it’s seventh and final season . Robert Kirkman, Greg Nicotero, Gale Hurd and David Alpert, of ‘The Walking Dead’, will be the show’s producers.

My hope is that they will air the new show during ‘The Walking Dead’s’ off season, which would make Walking Dead withdrawals easier on hard core fans, such as myself.
