There are few movies in this world that I love more than the 1975 cult classic ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’. Few movies have such a large cult following as ‘Rocky Horror’. So many will understand why I was absolutely furious when it came to my attention that FOX is remaking ‘Rocky Horror’ for TV. My first thought, how dare they? The rash of recent reboots is off the charts and in my opinion, they have just crossed the line.
No one, and I mean no one can properly play Brad and Janet, Riff Raff, Magentam or Columbia other than the original cast and as far as I am concerned Tim Curry IS Dr. Frank-N-Furter. The ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ is approaching it’s 40th anniversary, and how do they celebrate the milestone? By butchering it.
What on God’s green earth could make FOX think this was ok? Are you wondering who is behind this nonsense ? Gail Berman of The Jackal Group (ironic) executive producer. Kenny Ortega (from the original movie) will direct the movie along with doing the choreography. I guess we have FOX’s entertainment president David Madden to thank for this. I doubt the classics fans are going to be happy about the reboot, I know I’m not.
