The list of recent remakes just keeping longer. At the moment the list stands at 80 remakes/reboots in the past five years alone. Now the classic 1981 werewolf film ‘The Howling’, known for its’ effects and intense transformation scenes, is joining the ranks of the remade. Emaji Entertainment has set its’ sights on making a new version of the film, originally directed by Joe Dante and starring Dee Wallace and Patrick Macnee.
In ‘The Howling’ a television reporter, Karen White, is sent to a remote resort after surviving a near fatal encounter with a serial killer. In the town surrounding the resort, the residents are not what they seem. Karen’s life is about to change forever.
‘The Howling’ has already spawned eight films, soon to be nine, some better than others. The franchise includes: ‘The Howling II: Your Sister Is A Werewolf’ (1985), ‘Howling III: The Marsupials’ (1987), ‘Howling IV: The Original Nightmare’, ‘Howling V: The Rebirth’ (1989), ‘Howling VI: The Freaks’ (1991), ‘Howling: New Moon Rising’ (1995) and ‘The Howling: Reborn’ (2011). Let’s hope the new movie is better than most of it’s predecessors.
The new movie is still in early preproduction, so, many details have yet to be made public. I will give an update as soon as I know more.
