Spectre Show by Shaun Avery & David Broughton

Spectre Show #1 is an interesting independent comic that I found out about when speaking with the comic’s writer, Shaun Avery about the horror anthology project I’m currently working on. The description of the comic provided on the Comicsy website, when combined with the cover, piqued my interest. Fortunately, he and artist/letterist/cover artist David Broughton sent me a digital copy to review and share with you, and I’m back with the results! Comic Description: SPECTRE SHOW #1. Remember where you were the day the gates to the afterlife collapsed? The day humanity discovered that the spirits of the dead could possess their bodies at will, and that those spirits were very, very angry? No? Well, we can’t say we blame you for blocking it out of your mind . . .all that murder, torment and carnage. Let writer Shaun Avery and artist David Broughton and a psychotic TV host called Ted E. Scare be your memory. But be warned –

Marvel Announces A New Blade Comic Series With Female Lead

Marvel Comics has just announced that there will be a new series featuring a day-walking, vampire-hunting, badass coming this fall. Blade, who was born Eric Brooks, won’t be the titular character this time out though. This time around it will be his 16 year old daughter, Fallon Grey, who will be kicking undead ass and taking names. She will also probably be taking notes seeing as she is still in High School. Fans of the Blade franchise shouldn’t be worried though, as he will still be there to mentor her as a father and train her as a monster hunter. (No word on who the mother is yet) While the comic franchise is getting a reboot, there have also been rumors of the possibility of a new Blade film, which we reported on here. Blade #1 is set to debut this October. In the meantime, stay tuned for further updates on both the comic and the film.

‘Nosferatu’ Director’s Grave Robbed And His Head Stollen

Imagine, if you will, a silent grave yard on a dark night. A body hunched over a freshly opened grave, surrounded by lit candles. The villain breaking through into a casket and sneaking off in the night with the skull underneath their arm. It sounds like a scene out of a horror movie doesn’t it? For the family of director F.W. Murnau, it is a grim reality. F.W. Murnau, the director of the famous silent film ‘Nosferatu’, as well as the award winning film ‘Sunrise’ and ‘Faust’, died in 1931 in a car crash at the age of 42. He was buried in Stahnsdorf, just outside of Berlin. Early Tuesday morning someone violated what was meant to be Murnau’s final resting place in his family’s burial plot. At this time there is no clue to who carried out the horrid theft. I sincerely hope the skull finds it’s way back to the cemetery and I truly hope that Murnau’s spirit
