Simon Pegg will play the devil in the new horror-comedy anthology ‘The Gathering’. Pegg will star alongside a “who’s who” of the horror genre and a cast of incredibly talented actors and actresses. Jeffrey Combs (The Re-Animator) will once again play Edgar Allen Poe, who he also played in “The Black Cat” episode of Masters of Horror. Other names you will recognize: David Naughton (An American Werewolf In London) will be playing the role of H.P. Lovecraft. Freddy Krueger will be played by non other than Robert Englund, Hellraiser’s Doug Bradley will play Bram Stoker . The movie will also star Bill Moseley of ‘The Devil’s Rejects’, Gunnar Hansen (Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Clint Howard (Halloween 2007), Debbie Rochon (Killjoy 2), Udo Kier (Blade), William Sadler (The Mist), Mathew Tompkins (Sicario), and Lin Shaye (Insidious) . It blows your mind doesn’t it? So many incredible horror icons in one movie!
‘The Gathering’ will revolve around a host of literary icons like Edgar Allen Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Bram Stoker and Mary Shelly, who have gathered at the request of the Devil himself. The Devil issues a challenge to tell their best untold story on Halloween night. The one who hails the best tale will be able to exit purgatory.
The anthology will be directed by writer/producer/director Jon Keeyes. Keeyes also directed Angela’s Body (2009), Living and Dying (2007), American Nightmare (2002) and many, many more. Keeyes penned the script along with Carl Kirshner. ‘The Gathering’ began filming in May and should be released some time in 2016.
