Halloween, Our favorite time of the year. It’s the time when there’s a chill in the air, pumpkins are everywhere and horror marathons reign on TV. It’s also the time when we have our annual contests and giveaways. Here are the info and rules on our Halloween contests for 2015.
Pumpkin Carving Contest
We want to see your best horror related pumpkins!
Rules:
- The pumpkin must be from 2015
- You must be able to prove that it is your pumpkin
- No limit on entries
- Pictures must be entered before November 2nd at midnight (eastern)
- The pumpkin must have horror theme (includes the Walking Dead)
- Entries may be made through Twitter, Facebook or email (ltmcneely@zadf.org)
- 1st and 2nd place winners
Prizes:
- 1st Place: Nosferatu POP, ZADF decal pack
- 2nd Place: ZADF decal double pack
- Pumpkins Featured on our Facebook and website
- Winner certificate
Halloween Horror Short Story Contest
Rules:
- Short story must have a minimum of 100 words and a maximum of 300 words
- Must be Halloween or Horror related
- Must be an original story
- The writer can NOT be a professional writer, blogger or author
- Entries must be made before November 2nd at midnight (eastern)
- Short bio must be included
- Must be 18 or older
- All short story entries must be emailed to ltmcneely@zadf.org
Prizes:
- ZADF decal pack
- Story published on our website
- Downloadable novels: American Revenant: Hometown Exodus and American Revenant: Settlers and Sorrow
- Winner certificate
John L. Davis IV’s American Revenant book series focuses on the zombie apocalypse and follow a community of doomsday preppers as they attempt to navigate the changing landscape of the world and find their new place in the food chain. Fans of The Walking Dead will appreciate this series’ focus on it’s characters, and on the family and community aspects of survival which are absent in many horror/zombie works. Electronic copies of Davis’ Novel American Revenant: Hometown Exodus and American Revenant: Settlers and Sorrow will go to the first place winner. Check out our review on his latest book.
Costume Contest
We want to see you in your scary, funny or unique costume!
Rules:
- Must be able to prove that it is you in the costume. Can be shown with a pic of you getting dressed (no nude photos).
- Must be 18
- Entry must be made by November 2nd

- Audible Copies of The Infected: Jim’s First Day and The Infected: Karen’s First Day By Joseph “Zombie” Zuko
This series of books follow a husband and wife as they struggle to survive and reunite their family in the wake of a zombie outbreak. This series just released a third book, which our own Fox Emm had the pleasure of editing.
