Paranormal Activity 5: The Ghost Dimension is the second film, the first being Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, to take part in Paramount’s early release experiment.
What does the experiment mean for horror fans? Normally there is a minimum of three months between a film’s theatrical release and its VOD/digital release. Paramount is testing to see how a shorter waiting period would affect their bottom line. This is a good thing. This could mean that in the future we will not have to wait, what feels like forever, to see a film we couldn’t make it to a theater to see.
The December 15th VOD/digital release date for Paranormal Activity 5 comes just 53 days after the film’s debut in theaters. On January 12th you will be able to watch the film in the comfort of your own home, on Netflix.
The film follows a new family, the Fleeges. Ryan, the father, is played by Chris J. Murray. Brit Shaw plays the concerned mother, Emily. Ella, their young daughter, is played by Ivy George. When the family moves into the house they discover a box of tapes and a camera left in the garage. After they look through the footage they begin to experience intense paranormal activity. Kristi and Katie (Jessica Tyler Brown and Chloe Csengery) from ‘Paranormal Activity 3’ returned to the cast for ‘The Ghost Dimension’.
