Jim Beaver Will Be Returning To Supernatural And He’s Bringing A Friend

In an upcoming episode of season 11 of Supernatural the guys will turn time travelers, returning to a point from back in season 5 with the help of Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver) who passed in season 7, and a friend (Rufus). According to TVLine, Beaver will reprise his role as Sam and Dean’s father figure. In the episode Sam and Dean will be working on an old case that Bobby and Rufus investigated back in the day. The last time we saw Bobby was back in episode 16 of season 10 when Bobby and Rufus (Steven Williams) played the Winchester’s “Inside Man” (also the title of the episode) in Heaven. I know I won’t be the only one glad to see Bobby return. He’s a fantastic character and Jim Beaver always does such an amazing job. I only wish we could see him a little more often (Supernatural are listening?). Season 11 of Supernatural premieres on January 20th at 9/8c.

Dr. Frankenstein To Battle Monsters In The New Comic Monstrous: Tales Of Valor And Villainy

Last night I came across the Kickstarter campaign for Source Point Press’ new four issue comic mini-series Monstrous: Tales of Valor and Villainy and was intrigued. Monstrous is the brain-child of writer Greg Wright (Wild Bullets, Last Monster Standing) and artist Ken Lamug (The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories, A Box Story). “You’ve heard the story of Dr. Frankenstein and his monster before. You know they tried to kill each other. But it didn’t work. Now, Frankenstein has built robots, his monster has built more monsters, and the world will never be the same. Monstrous tells the tales of everyday monsters, robots, and townspeople caught up in the changes sweeping across Europe in the wake of Dr. Frankenstein’s mad science. But even in this twisted landscape, our unconventional heroes—giant rabbit monsters, steam-powered cyborgs, and babysitting bank robbers—all try to live by their own code of honor. So fire up your steampunk rocket-sled and jump onboard!” Their Kickstarter campaign will run

AMC’s Preacher To Premiere At SXSW

AMC’s new series Preacher will premier this March at SXSW, followed by the TV premiere this May. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will be directing the series, which is based on the adaption of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s fantastic graphic novel by the same name. For those who are not familiar with the comics, let me explain. Preacher follows Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a preacher from a small Texas town, who was pushed into his profession by his effing insane family. Jesse, after being possessed by Genesis, an entity that is half angel and half demon, sets out to find God. He is accompanied by his ex girlfriend Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun). The angels, desperate to have Genesis back in his cage, send “The Killer of Saints” to find him. If the series is anything like the graphic novels, it will be dark, twisted and controversial.

Friday the 13th Gets Lucky

A Few Words From Our Ms. Palmer “What a piece of shit! No one’s gonna see this crap!” — Actress Betsy Palmer aka Pamela Vorhees The late, esteemed critic, Roger Ebert, coined the phrase “Dead Teenager Movie” and I have stated several times that Jaws 2 arguably gets technical credit as the first one. While teenagers in peril was a long standing theme and used over and over again, it’s the sequel to Spielberg’s game changing shark movie that lined them up one after another for the monster to pick off. Jaws 2 gave the designer sheen to killing off teens. It wasn’t a grainy “B Movie” that played part of a double bill at the drive in. This was wide screen Panavision and a 50 million budget. While there was no nudity, the underlying “have sex and die” motif was there with a killer in the form a pissed off female Great White Shark. The original 1978 Halloween fine
