Scout Taylor-Compton famously broke into the horror genre playing Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie’s Halloween films. Afterward, the talented actress built an extensive resume with dozens of horror roles. Now, she is stepping behind the camera to direct a brand-new feature film titled Survive: The Game. Taylor-Compton co-wrote the project’s original screenplay with writer Michael Kennedy, Deadline reports.
A Stellar Ensemble Cast Assembles
The upcoming production recently expanded its talented cast with several rising genre favorites. Olivia Holt joins the project after starring in the hit slasher feature Heart Eyes. Additionally, Halloween Ends star Rohan Campbell signed on to play a key role. Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran Jaimie Alexander also completes the impressive ensemble. As a result, the star-studded team brings major excitement to this new project.
A Deadly Board Game Unleashed
The story begins when a group of friends discovers an ancient board game inside a secluded cabin. Unfortunately, the isolated structure harbors a violent and bloody history. Every roll of the dice brings terrifying, deadly consequences directly to life. Therefore, the terrified friends must finish the sinister game to survive the night.
Psychological Terror Inside the Cabin
Taylor-Compton drew heavily from her extensive background playing iconic final girls in major horror franchises. However, she wanted to flip traditional genre expectations on their head. Instead of facing an outside monster, the characters must confront dark versions of themselves. Psychological dread drives the core tension inside the cabin.
A Powerhouse Creative Partnership
Producer Randy Wayne is collaborating with Taylor-Compton for the fourth time on this feature. This project also marks her second directorial effort for production company Rebellium. The team praises her extreme attention to detail and unmatched creative drive. Filming is currently underway on location across Spain.
“I’ve played the final girl. I spent years learning what it takes to survive a horror movie: the running, the screaming, the moment you finally turn around and fight,” Taylor-Compton shared. “With Survive: The Game, I wanted to ask a different question. What if the thing chasing you isn’t outside the door? What if surviving means confronting the worst version of yourself first?”
Rising Stars of the Genre
The cast brings impressive credentials from major television and horror releases. Holt previously starred in Prime Video’s time-travel slasher Totally Killer and the thriller series “Cruel Summer.” Meanwhile, Campbell expanded his horror resume with roles in The Monkey and Silent Night, Deadly Night. Additionally, Alexander led the hit drama series “Blindspot” for five seasons. Horror fans can look forward to more updates as production continues.
