Last year we reported that a television series from Dimension Television was in the works based on Stephen King’s The Mist.  Now, we can report that Spike has officially ordered the pilot from acclaimed writer Christian Torpe.

The series will use both King’s novel and the 2007 film as inspiration. The series will tell an original story about a mist, filled with otherworldly terrors, that takes over a small town.  Tensions between neighbors escalates as the creatures in the mist draw closer, but they must find a way to band together to survive.

The 2007 film was written and directed by Frank Darabont and stars Thomas Jane, Laurie Holden, Sam Witwer and Melissa McBride. It was both terrifying and heart breaking. I’m curious to see how it translates as series.
