Martin Freeman Cast In The Lead Role In The Zombie Drama Cargo

Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, Captain America: Civil War) has signed on the play the lead role in the zombie thriller Cargo which is based on  the short film by the same name, ScreenDaily reports.

In the film “…a father (Freeman) who, stranded in rural Australia in the aftermath of a violent pandemic and, infected himself, desperately seeks a new home for his infant child and a means to protect her from his own changing nature.”

Cargo is produced by Kristina Ceyton, who also produced the 2014’s The Babadook. “Martin Freeman is a singular talent who will add such depth and emotional sophistication to the role, and we know will make this story come alive in an unexpected and deeply moving way.” She said of their new lead actor

The short film, from Ben Howling and Yolanda Ramke, is one of the best I’ve ever seen. It’s incredibly moving, heartbreaking and brilliant.
