Ellen Page joins the world of the living dead in the upcoming zombie thriller The Third Wave. Set in a time after after a virus has transformed much of humanity into zombie-like creatures, the film follows those who have been cured, but many of those once infected are ostracized from their families and from society, creating social unrest and government involvement.
David Freyne will be making his directorial debut with The Third Wave, which he also wrote. In the Heart of the Sea actor Sam Keeley will co-star in the film, which is set to begin filming in Ireland later this year, THR has reported.
“The Third Wave brings an entire new perspective to the zombie genre, which I love,” Page continued. “David Freyne truly shifts his lens on society’s role in the apocalyptic world. I’m so grateful for this opportunity to share his thoughtful approach to horror with audiences.”
