The Orchard has acquired the critically acclaimed horror film Demon. The award-winning film, which is a twist on the Jewish legend of the Dybbuk, held its world premiere at the 40th Toronto International Film Festival where it was well-received. Demon was filmed in Israel and Poland.
In Demon “Peter is a stranger in the hometown of his future wife Janet. As a wedding gift from the bride’s grandfather, he receives a piece of land where the two can build a house and raise a happy family. While preparing the land for construction, Pete finds hidden bones of human bodies in the ground beneath his new property. Then very strange things begin to happen.”
Directed by Marcin Wrona and co-written by Pawel Maslona, Demon stars Itay Tiran, Agnieszka Zulewska, Andrzej Grabowski, Tomasz Schuchardt, Katarzyna Herman, Adam Woronowcz, Wlodzimierz Press and Tomasz Zietek. Sadly, Wrona passed away just after the film’s premiere.
Demon will arrive in select theaters this September on the 9th.
