We have been following the new film adaption of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower closely. Starring Idris Elba as Roland,” The Gunslinger” and Matthew McConaughey as the villainous “Man in Black”, the adaption is in the hands of director Nikolaj Arcel, who co-wrote the script along with Akiva Goldsman.

Last week we revealed photos from the set that gave us our first look at Roland and the “Man in Black”. Now, a series of stills from the film have been unveiled via Entertainment Weekly.

In an interview with the magazine Elba describes Roland as “a bit lost.”He continues to say, “He’s been walking around for a long time, so he definitely feels like a man who is…coiled.” Elba goes on to say that at the start of the film, “Roland is driven by rage…” but deep down “He’s a protector. He just needs something to reawaken that part of him.”

The “Man in Black”, has decimated Mid-World and destroyed everyone Roland loved. McConaughey’s character is now looking for more worlds to destroy. And he’s searching for Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor), who possesses a powerful psychic ability referred to as “The Shine”. The boy’s dreams are filled with horrible sights, a dark man, a tall tower and doorways to different worlds. If Roland can protect the boy, he will earn back his self-respect.
