Don’t correct me if I’m wrong but I believe this is the first series to set 26 years between seasons. It’s been 26 years since Twin Peaks’ originally ended and just recently a third season started moving forward.

Although at the now ending SDCC there wasn’t a Twin Peaks panel, original T-Peak alum Ray Wise was. Wise was at an entirely different panel actually, Batman: Killer Joker’s. During the panel Wise revealed to fans he expects Twin Peaks season 3 to air on Showtime during the a Summer of 2017.

Wise further revealed he’s starring in the new season as well as David Lynch (co-creator of series) has directed all 18 episodes of it. Personally I wasn’t around when the show originally aired and I haven’t watched a single episode, but I do know the cult following it created. After its 1991 cancellation a film dubbed Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me’ was released which acted as a prequel-esque to the series. In 2002 TVGuide dubbed the series one of the 50 Greatest TV Shows, in 2007 TIME Magazine ranked it one of the BEST TV SHOWS OF ALL-TIME and the praise just continues.

As the series returns, returning with it will be Mädchen Amick, Dana Ashbrook, Phoebe Augustine, Richard Beymer, Scott Coffey, Catherine E. Coulson, Julee Cruise, Jan D’Arcy, David Duchovny, Sherilyn Fenn, Miguel Ferrer, Warren Frost, Harry Goaz, Andrea Hays, Gary Hershberger, Michael Horse, David Patrick Kelly, Peggy Lipton, Bellina Martin Logan, Kyle MacLachlan, James Marshall, Everett McGill, Walter Olkewicz, Kimmy Robertson, Wendy Robie, Marv Rosand, Carlton Lee Russell, Harry Dean Stanton, Charlotte Stewart, Al Strobel, Carel Struycken, Russ Tamblyn, Ray Wise, Alicia Witt, and Grace Zabriskie. Additionally joining the cast will be Monica Belucci (Brotherhood of the Wolf), Michael Cera (Juno), Jim Belushi, Chrysta Bell, Richard Chamberlain, Balthazar Getty, Ashley Judd, Tim Roth, Amanda Seyfried, and Trent Reznor.

Twin Peak’s followed the story of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper investigating the murder of Homecoming Queen Laura Palmer in Washington’s quaint Twin Peaks.

Season 3 was reportedly in production 2014 and was to be released 2016 but delays led the new season to its current 2017 premiere date.
